Hi, I have read the stories about when Khain fought the nightbringer and it says at the end that the eldar lost the gift of reincarnation. Does this mean that before the battle, the eldar could be killed and just come back in a new body, or did they go to an afterlife where every1 was ok and played happy families?
thanks

It meant that they could reincarnate with a full conscience of who they were before, I think; they would die, their souls float peacefully in the warp for a while and be born again a while after. Although that has no link with why the Eldar are supposedly immortal, I'm not sure about how that fits in with this.

It's all very fuzzy. Has a lot to do with the galaxy-spanning Infinity Circuit and the ability to inhabit a body with a mind.

Theoretically, a psyker can astral project his mind into someone else's body, which is used often in Ravenor and is referred to as "waring". Now, if you can maintain that ethereal state indefinitely regardless of the state of your physical body - normally, if your body dies the projection dies too - which the Infinity Circuit might well be able to do, it's perfectly plausible that you might be able to jump off the Circuit eventually and into, say, a blank-minded cloned host body. Thereby creating technical immortality.

That's actually a really good explanation. I just came up with that explanation on the spot. I'm quite pleased with myself now. :)

An intriguing idea... I'm not sure we could even extrapolate, burt given that the Eldar gods were meant to be psychic weapons themselves, I'd guess it was something like the Talismans, although there is talk of the gods using the swords personally (particularly in the battle between Khaine and Vaul) so they could be something entirely warp-based.

Personally I think its was more of a metaphor relating to the then calm state of the warp. Considering Eldar Mythology talked of Talismans that were huge fortresses one can only wonder what other aspects refer to. For example what were the 100 swords?
The 100 swords are from what i can gather actual swords forged by vaul most likely a form of force weapon. One of which it hints somehow eneded up on the warhammer world.
