I noticed that someone copied the idea for a shopping cart (see conversions in LO) - except used orks. Hope they give proper Kudos

Overall from the pictures here I am not terribly impressed as a whole. Not to say the ones that won are bad but the overall quality vs. the quantity of entries seems rather low. Lot of mediocre/poor stuff with the winners very much clearly identifiable as the winners.

The titan Bio-titan if you are curious was painted by a guy at the Balck Gobbo table, that on the net, goes by the name Brother Bish (he wore this hawaiian shirt). :)

Funniest thing Sloark was that the Demon Prince came in second while hte Space Marine on Carnosaur came in first. There were alot of people (including myself) that thought Victor should have gotten first, but supposeably the judges didn't really liek the whoel religious them with the demonic twist (which imho is stupid).

God those two entries look identical to me. I really am getting pissed of at the frequnecy this is happening. People who buy painted mini's to enter in Golden Demons are the lowest of the low in my book. What do they get for doing something like that, apart from a statue, which you know you have not earned. Its like entering the special olympics and boasting that you won a gold medal.

Apart from that I tend to agree with Slorak, there seems to be a lot of very very average stuff and some below average. I pray that those pics are not of everything that made the cut, but what the taker thought good/funny/interesting. Because if this

http://www.villagephotos.com/viewpubimage.asp?id_=16936100

made the cut, I am packing up and quiting the hobby altogether. The golden demon for me is a place to see what the best painters in the world are doing and give me inspiration. That entry does not inspire me to do anything but wonder how the hell that cow got so big.

Wow that post turned into a bit of a rant, sorry.

I looked at the pictures this moring before work and found that 2 of them could very well be the same. Even down to the rock, dirt and grass layout on the base. However I recall that the other 3 didn't look the same - though if this was sold off - it could have had other figures attached to it that weren't originally entered.

Damn internet filter here at work doesn't let me review the pictures again - but I agree they could be one and the same (at least a few of them)...

Unfortunately there will probably always be cheaters. It is a good thing this community is particularly dilligent in hunting them out and reporting them when possible. If this truly was deception it is too bad it was caught after the fact but I am sure that if they are aware they will do their best to ban him from the shows in the future...

Cheers,

-Mike

Slorak,

Agree with you totally. Both a painting buddy and I have compared the Banshee to pics to other pics on the web and those look like the same ones painted by Adam Benesz for the UK 2002 GD. Dang, a Silver and now a Gold for one entry :shifty: GW needs to have some sort of tracking system or even a portfolio of past winners that they can reference for each event.

As for the winners, some great minis. The Khorne demon was just incredible :O The rest of the field didn't look to be as strong as GDLA where some of the non-podium minis could have won Golds at another event.

Yeah I can't wait to see more pictures of the winners. Victors Khorne Demon is something that is just simply amazing. Too bad it didn't place higher. I agree with you 100% in regards to the overall quality of entries. GDLA was very strong this year to where you couldn't quite tell who would place or not.

I don't want to speak for Baltimore as I wasn't there but from the initial pictures I have seen - you can tell who the winners were and the majority of the rest was mediocre at best. That isn't to say there wasn't some crap at LA - just didn't seem to be as many high standard stuff. Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking when they enter.

Cheers,

Here is another plave of the Golden Demon competition : http://sodemons.com/gd26baltimore/ The guy also has a special gallery for only Victor's Demon Prince :http://sodemons.com/gd26baltimore/13-VictorH/index.htm . The Slayer Sword winner is the blue tzeentch Beastman in the fantasy sqaud. That was a sight to see from that group. But like many, Victor's model can only be truely viewed all over and in person to get hte full impact of what he did.
