i dont play guard but im planning to take a basilisk with my iron warriors and i have a question. it says that if you choose indirect fire, the basilisk is a guess weapon. does this mean i have to guess the range first, and then scatter, or do i just use it like any other ordinance but role two dice and pick the highest for the scatter distance.

You have to guess and then scatter.
Incorrect i'm afraid, barrage weapons no longer have to guess the range as of the transition to 4th Ed.

Basically you just measure to make sure your target is not within the minimum range of 36" and then plunk the blast marker down and roll for scatter. Remember you can switch from indriect to direct and back again as often as you see fit.

If you miss you need to roll two dice and add them together to scatter (thanks 4th edition)
Thankfully that's also incorrect, you roll two dice and pick the highest. You don't add them together.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. For indirect fire, Just place the template where you want things to die, measure the distance to make sure you're more than 36" away and inside of 240". Ya gotta make sure your not further away than 240", thats a real problem alotta ppl have ;)

Nooooooooo, how can i be defeated?

anyway i havent got a basilisk yet so maybe i need one but on the small tables i play on i cant see a lot of use for one

diagonals is where its at!!!!!

Even on a 4x4 board the diagonal is 5.65 feet. basies are great because it really helps flush out that hammerhead or other tank that is dominating the fire lanes

better yet take two and it eliminates the min range problem as they cover eachothers dead zones!!

this is a really good tactic and be extended to other tanks as well, if possible take tanks in groups of two so that they can support each other. (ie two russ' leapfrogging can do more damage than one, and it distributes enemy fire better...)
