Interested in joining the ranks of the Guard eh? Well there's probably no better place than this forum for all your Guard needs. Make sure to get the Imperial Guard Codex first. You'd probably want to plan out an army list, and perhaps post it on this forum if you so wish. If you're interested in Catatchan models over Cadians then the Battle Force is probably a good place to start: http://ca.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.ca?do=Individual&code=99120105016&orignav=10

With it you can make a platoon with your choice of heavy weapons, as well as enough models for a platoon Command Squad. The Sentinels can also be very handy to have around. A warning about the Heavy Weapon sprues though; HW sprues are quite expensive though they also come with a huge number of configurations. Make sure to save all the parts, using the stands for Autocannons and Lascannons, Heavy Bolters you can have your models laying down, and for missile launchers you can have standing Guardsmen. Make the most out of you money, ya know?

You probably want to a) convert/assemble a captain using bits from the Battle Force or b) buy one of these Lieautenants to serve as a Captain: http://ca.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.ca?do=Individual&code=99060105187&orignav=10

Add a few more models to your command squad and you have an HQ choice as well as a troops choice, a solid start to any army. Beyond that you can you go a variety of ways, tanks, more troops, an armoured fist squad, Elite Guards (as paradoxal as that may seem.) There's no real right or wrong way to go, though personally everyone likes a Leman Russ! (*Note* Enemies of the Imperium do not apply. In fact, they most likely loathe LR's with all their might.)

As for how well they'd do in City Fight they'd probably fare just as well as any other guard if you don't bother with their Jungle Fighting Doctrine. If you're determined to have it, then they're probably just slightly worse due to being just slightly more expensive in terms of points. You don't need to field them with Jungle Fighters however, as you can have any combination you wish. Good luck collecting your army, nice seeing another recruit to join our masséd ranks!

You can also play them with their own codex that you can find on GW's homepage.
This way I get the feeling they are harder to play and they slow down the game a bit.
If you play them with their own codex you can't use any tank (only Sentinels with Heavy Flamers, and they aren't really tanks :shifty: ). Well I think it's the best that you check the codex out for your self.

Here you can download it in PDF-form.

If you are going to play Cityfight and play with this codex then I thing its's bound to fail. With "real" Catachans you need Jungleterrain and Woods, which there isn't much off in Cityfight. So if you want to play with the Catachan models just use them are ordernary Guardsmen and pick some Doctrines for them that you feel is your way to play. That is how I will play my Catachans. Good luck with your army.

I heard somewhere that that codex is no longer legal...
