Intrigue at Court question

Okay this weekend it looks like I may be going into a team battle: Probably Bretonnians and Hippie Tree Elves vs. My High Elves and friend's Skaven.

My question is, in team battles does each player have a seperate general, or one for the both of us? If we only have one general, would I have to roll the intrigue at court rule still? Also, if there are more then 6 characters, what do you roll? A 2d6?

Thanks

Well, i can answer the second half of that question rather easily. if you have 6 or more characters, you pick i think 5 and line them up.

As far as the first part of the question, i think it is more up to you guys. in the games that my friends and i play, we always count it has having two, with each one pertaining to its own army. but we also don't allow any mixing or joining of units between armies. but there is no official rule. having two generals is just, IMO, much easier.

Yeah if there are more than 6 you choose 5 and on a 6 you still get to choose.

I'd have a seperate general for each army. Even with a more feasable alliance than HE and Skaven, Empire troops would resent being bossed around by a High Elf and High Elves wouldn't like being bossed around by some silly human.

I can't really see (in fluff terms) a high elf listening to anything the skaven have to say to them. So I'd opt for seperate Generals.

Think about it!!!

when an army goes to war with an ally alongside such as the americans and english it would be rather odd if the american marines had a british paratrooper regiment's commander in charge!!!! However this would apply for units not armies, just think would your army accept that the tactics of your allies general are better of go along with their own thing??? Wll, I know what my high elves would do anyway!!!

well the guys above have said it all:

if you have more then 5 characters line 45 of them up and roll, a 6 always allows you to choose

and the combined forces thing:

get a gerenal each, it makes more scence

I agree, each their own general. I would just play as completely seperate armies that happen to use the same phase and that work together. If you start mixing things together you are asking for very difficult situations. Think of the loopholes people would try to use. In your case a skaven BSB in the backrank of a unit of swordmasters giving them a 4+ ward save from missile fire.
