The guy at one of my stores who keeps in touch with GW, told me that DA is going to get pushed out further, and they are going to do an Ork codex after Eldar. Also, the veteran Sgts for DA will be a box of metal minis like the Sword Bretheren is for BT. And of course the rumor of upgrade kits for DA marines.

Now I'm bummbed out about the DA getting postponed, but the Orks really do deserve it.

Ugh. GW, would you mind pulling this knife outta my dark angel heart? Just kidding. If they do make orks first, then hopefully they make cool rules for fighting with DA, and same for when DA comes out.
Hopefully this is all just rumors though, becuase ive been excited for the DA codex since the early year rumor.

orks need updated way more then another space marine chapter
Have to agree there. Even though I have been wanting to do a DA army for a while, have the current dex, and with the rumors was all excited to start an army when it releases. But dem Orkses need it bad. Whhhaaaaaaggh

As much as I'd like to see my Angels updated, I have to agree that Orks need it way more. And it can only bee good for the game if they push for more and more non-imperial races. In store events have been a pain since it's always a bad ratios of imperials to non-imperials.

It's the main reason I hated that they created TWO full inquisitorial armies, they were originally nifty allies or niche armies, like the Necrons, but they made them so cool that now you've got Grey Knights fighting each other at scenario events.

I hope they make Orks cool and overpowered, if for no other reason than to get folks to play them.

Maybe I just haven't played 40K for long enough that I'm rationally ignorant on this, but:

What is so bad about the current DA codex that warrants a priority update so much?
Well it really isn't that it is bad it just doesn't have anything unique in it anymore really. To my knowledge DA used to be the only chapter that could get tons on plasma cannons and stuff though now everyone can. Also their upgrades for their vehicles are out of date espically since now all bikes can turbo boost.

Yea, in their fluff they are the oldest chapter out there and thus have access and knowledge of old technology that no other chapter had. Game rules, this was use of the plasma cannon, they were the only ones that could use it. Now though, any space marine army can use it. So no more uniqueness in that regards.

Nearly all the wargear, powers, upgrades etc are out dated for rules and point costs. Look at it like this. All the other codex books that need to be redone are 3rd Edition. Dark Angles is still 2nd Edition.

I'm looking forward to what the Orks get. A good friend that got into the hobby with me plays them, and loves them. It will be fun all around I think, and again, we are likely to see more ork armies, as tons of people buy into new armies when they get updated.

I myself will be buying some Eldar stuff for my wife's Eldar, and then waiting to spend money on the DA. Which is good, because I'm in the middle of building a new army as it is. :)

Sorry to be slightly OT, but the DA's codex is 3rd edition, just like the BA's. I believe the second edition codex was DA's and BA's together, in "angels of death".

The Orksies are dire need of a revamp, hopefully this time around they will get a completed weapons table :O The rules themselves are generally ok, but i do believe that its the book itself that needs to be revammped to pull everything up into 4th edition equivelant.

With the DA's being pushed back though, I wonder if and when the BA's will be getting an update :(

Yeah I think the confusion on codex DA (and others) is they reprinted in with the errors fixed, they then stuck a big picci on it saying "Second Eddition" meaning it was the second release of the codex with all the errors and typos fixed, it relates to 3rd ed of the game.

Back on topic ...
NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

OK got that off my chest now:

1. we know that this sort of info is not reliable, we have all seen it before, even contradictory statements from shop and GW staff on the phone, so not trying to put you down, but I do hope you have been missinformed

2. DA seriously need sorting, they suffered a lot of their unique character taking hits with Codex SM, and DW particularly got a kicking, principly because of the loss of the assault termie in the tac termie squad

My main DA gripe is with Ravenwing Bikes, normal Bikes got a points decrease but not Ravenwing, add to that the fact that the 6+ Jink is near worthless with Turbo-boost and that's rubbish.

However Orks suffer from a really old codex and do need an upgrade. Orks are plain cool and even though i'm a Dark Angels player I think Orks should go next, DA could be made fine by letting my suggestions (less than 2 pages really) be bought into force.

Ah that's where I was mislead, the 2nd edition printed on the cover. My bad. :)

It would be very cool to see how they change up things to make them cool and unique for 4ed codex changes. But I can wait for now.

The only for sure thing we know about is Eldar in November. So the rest of the codex updates are speculation, rumor and totally up in the air. Only time will tell.

I do really hope it is DA though just because they are so damn cool. I understand why Orks need a codex but I'm on hold with the DA(except for my terminators) until they get a new dex. Blood angels definetly do not need a codex right now, people actually complain that they're OVERpowered.

Well, the are just another Marine chapter.

Orks desperately need a new codex, as theirs doesn't even have their guns' stats in it. And some new models, particularly vehicles that are close to scale. ...and plastic grots.

After that, the Dark Eldar need some love; their models look like pieces of chewed gum and a complete Dark Eldar codex is a book and a sheaf of printed-out PDF files.

It's obvious to all that GW does not update codices according to need, but the Orks and the Dark Eldar are getting ridiculous.

I think orks need new models more than a codex, and they need a new codex. The new Big Mek has shown how beautiful orks can be, but so few in the ork line meet that potential. And they're still using Gorka-Morka vehicles for the love of Bob.

We've all been spoiled by the pretty Wood Elf models, and all the other recent models. :) Having seen what GW can do and then looking at our own older models makes a person more than a little glum.

Since, Orcs and Goblins are coming out very soon, and having seen how nice some of those new models are, I wouldn't be surprised if Space Orks come soomer than later and that the models are of similar excellent quality.

I, for one, have been impressed by GW's latest models. I think they have felt a little competition in terms of model quality from other companies.

Oh man I forgot about dark eldar. Those poor chaps don't even have anything out in the stores to buy, no codex no models, nothing. What is up with that anyway? When I started this hobby it was like that, dark eldar were no longer available to buy, but yet still a legal army to play. Why pull them off the shelves, but keep them playable, and I started playing 2 years ago.

Some of the new Ork models are great. I think they could use new vehicle models, update the bikes a bit so the riders are at least to scale to normal Orks. Get some plastic grots and gretchen, or at least reduce their cost A LOT. GW needs to not only think about the materials cost of models, but about the game rules and unit size. It's not so bad say when an Eldar player need to buy 10 meltal models at $5 a piece. But a gretchen squad of 30 at $5 a piece is outrageous.

Kinda but, but whats the problem?
Tau
Black Templars
Orks
Dark Angels
Eldar

So far it still seems to work for me.

so you think that dark angels, orks and eldar will come out before this november... thats not quite possible. GW want to suck out our money with all the new TAU and CoD thing before realesing anything else.
