I am painting my first eldar gaurdian. I am wondering, should leave the arms off and paint them seperatly? I am painting it blue and tan for Alaitoc Craft World. Also any suggestions on the gems? I was thinking green or red. Thanks in advance.

I have always painted my eldar fully assembled. I've found that if you use a black base coat it doesn't matter that you can;t reach every little nook and cranny in the model. The black base just makes it look like shadow in there. Here's what my army looks like. linky, linky, clicky, clicky

Having said that if you are looking for a display quality product then you should probably paint then assemble and touch-up.

love those jetbikes General Jigger, those are awesome.....

All i can contribute is always cut them off the sprue and clean the model. From there it doesnt really matter, just a drill bit in the glueable part and a toothpick or something in the hole for a grip. you should ALWAYS get rid of mold lines, they are just ugly....I personally asemble first, becuase then i can get the "feel" of how a guys coming along

I paint with them on. Its not that bad. But i do favor a black undercoat so it adds 'shading' as jigger said. But I also often play with my guys unpainted so some guys don't get painted for a while. If i didn't glue them on I'd probably lose them. If you were going to paint them all before playing then go ahead paint them on the spru/seperately.
