Battle Wizard -w 2X Dispel Scroll
Lore of Metal
HERO 3
Warrior Priest -w Great Hammer / Heavy Armor / Dispel Scroll
17 guys plus 3 model as command = 20 guys and the spearmens as the shield option too ( i forget to mention it on the list ) well ill wait to get more comments before ill make it official
and tanks for your participation to the thread
you awnser you question no captains cannot take arcane items only wizards
BRB Pg 121 "Only a wizard can carry an arcane item" under Arcane Items.
On to you list
you have a nice amount of state troops but there to small i use them in units of 25 they add a extra rank and you dont lise your rank bonuses right away from combat or shooting.
The knights seems alright should be smash most units aside on charge with your general to, magic defence is fine if he is a level 2 drop to level 1 your magic would be pretty much useles
Pistolliers are abit to big there better off in units of 5 IMO give the champion a repeater pistol gives you a few extra shots.
ok now as i recall in common magic item the dispel scroll is listed there ..the mage is mostly a scroll caddy at level 1 i could change the general and the warrior priest by removing the scrolls and adding a level to the mage...would loose 2 dispel scrolls tho
ok why 25guys .. i get it that ill have a rank bonus and a nice square of 5 X 5 ( wich is nice for the flank defence but with the detachements is it worth it ? and bulking the foot troops means that ill have too cut down the pistoliers and the knights and loose a rank bonus with them ... well ill still wait for other comments too see wich suits me best
IMO units of 25 are better as you'll usually always outnumber them, which is always a good thing, i havent seen the new army book but i think of 6 are the best pointwise for the detachments, you can only have +3 for rank bonus's so why pay for an extra rank if one dies from shooting(unlikley) you're still unit strength 5.
also with too many detachments your line becomes fragmented as unless done well you have huge gaps between them, being prodominently a brett player I and most others will attack these and break your line inot isolated units. A little trick is to have you halberdiers in a 2x3 formation. They take up less than half the room, they counter charge, you should win the combat as you'll start on +5 (3 rank, outnumber, flank) then reform them at the end of combat.
And unless behind the unit on a hill the handgunners should be seperate as they take up way too much space for a fast unit to exploit, nut nehind the unit (has to be on a hill) they dont disrupt your line, can stand and shoot for the master unit. + other units ignore panic they cause.
If you can squeeze it in have 2 units of 5 pistoliers, they be much more effective for fanking him, use them BOTH on one flank!
Also dont upgrade the wizard, hes there for a dispell dice and scrollls.
really on the swrdsmen get rid of the handgunner detachment it really just wont cut it.
and the pistoliers cut it dowwn to 5 and take more troops get the units up to 25 or 30 cause against a wood elf army their shooting will take them out quite well so beef them up abit.
i mean you got 2000 points so why not use them.
even if that means takeing out a unit its still good.
other wise i like alot.
