When I started playing Warhammer Fantasy Battle two years and three months ago, I never would've guessed that my newfound hobby would extend to the Internet, but here I am on LO, making my 3,485th post about a hobby that already consumes too time and money.
This is a totally random conversation, but maybe some of you will find fit to humor me.
I'm curious about other people's LO habits. I always begin at my User CP, checking it throughout the day (and damn the server problems! ( ). As a mod, I check in a few other places, almost exclusively on the fantasy boards.
Every once in a while, I venture into some less-frequented forums and check out the painting, sketches, and fiction that all these interesting people are posting.
And here's an off-the-wall question for someone, maybe BlackHat or Hard_Aun: who gave LO its name? and why LO?
well, when i come home form school i check LO and my email. on LO i first check my user cp and check on my recent involved posts, then i search the new posts. after a while, when there is nothing new going on i do other stuff (music, hang w/ friends, play with dog, paint/ convert, cry in a bathtub full of tears, you know the usual.). after dinner i repeat this process every 2-3 hours or so and finally one more time before i go to bed. its sad , isn't it? story of my life.
When I first come on, I check user CP. Then I always go to nids, IG, daemonhunters, rules help, conversion, sometimes modelling and then general discussion. As you can see, I spend way too much time on this forum When I'm on during days I don't have school and am really bored, I look through the entire forum and find some cool things, but normally, I just stick to the places that I know and interest me.
I check the mod forum first, then General hobby discussion, then FB, then General Discussion. Finally I check my user CP. Not sure why I do it last, makes sense to do it first I guess, oh well^_^
My user cp is my bookmark so I hit that first, from there it's onto my blog to see if anyone has called in. (If you havn't go have a look, its got dwarfs!) Then I go through all the pages of new posts and finally I call into my profile page to see if anyone has left me a comment or added me to their buddy list.
I normally visit LO three or four times during the day, sometimes maybe more if work is going slow.
Generally speaking i post once in a blue moon. once in a lightly shaded green one with orange undertones anywhere outside WFB or the sketchbook however
I check LO alot, usually I have very little time to post though, but I try. I started on LO to get some help, but now, after quite a few years of playing (7) I have turned my attention more towards the community and help-related aspect. I like you guys, and like my ten-cents worth, so I'll be here for quite a while. Sorry...
Now this is a great topic!
I start at my user CP, see what's happend on the threads I've been posting on, returning to the CP after each one of them. Next I check the new posts and see if anything catches my eye. If not I go to the Imperial Guard forum, stroll around amongst the lists for a while then I go to the Chaos board. I don't post that much any longer (serious).
I also try (in vain) to find someone wanting to swap their Steel Legionares on the trading board
Other then that it's the painting, conversion and modelling boards that gets my attention. I look at what you've guys made, help out where I can and just gets a rush from seeing so many lovely models and getting many new ideas from what you've done.
To this should be added the PMs. I love them.
I have to admit that I've been working to take a place among LO's top 10 posters. In the last day or two, I took over the 9th spot, taking over MiketehFox.
Now only 3295 posts to go before I catch Lost Nemesis.
INteresting thread DavidVC04. A typical day for me consists of constant L.O. refreshing and looking for things to talk about (my work puts me in front of a computer, so it's not my fault that I'm addicted to L.O.{goofy} )
At any rate, my first stop is always the 40K chaos boards, as I'm a devotee of the Dark Side (says in a 'Vaderesque' voice...heh). Then I'm off to the painting and conversion forums, on occasion, stopping by the modeling section. Next in line, I say hellos to the general board, the showcase, my usercp, and finally the cite feedback and support section.
In a given day, I probably check L.O. 30 times, especially if I've recently posted a thread or images.
EDIT: At the moment, I have L.O. pulled up on two laptops, so that I can read memebers' army lists on one, and then post comments on the other. Hopefully, I can find a 3rd laptop for actually doing my work.
