Am i the only one who is extremely amused by this?

I laughed my ass of when i read it, Good! i thought :D

She's been leeching in the limelight for way to long, making her crappy singles and being a pain in the ass.

Or is there anyone who thinks that she hasn't got what she deserved? (karma and all)

lol this is funny

But then agian o wow driving with a supended liscence. Its really a dumb violation as the reason your liscence was suspended has nothing to do with your ability to drive in the majority of people.

for example my liscence will be suspended soon but the reason behind it has nothing to do with a car or driving.

I hope she doesn't drop the soup. You know what they do to famous female celebrities in prison...:hump:
Somehow I doubt she would protest much. Raunchy little thing that one.

/rant on I say lock her up and leave her there just so we won't have to watch her parade around half naked anymore. I mean seriously when did whiney stick girls that look like they haven't bathed in days become the new "hot"? I wouldn't touch her with somebody else's %*^& /rant off

I'm just surprised it didn't happen sooner. Just because someone is famous doesn't mean they should be above the law.
Yet she is still more famous than you and has more money than you'll ever have.
Money and fame do not define how good your quality of life is. This is especially true when you have things like, philosophical views, an imagination, intellegence, dignity and many other things that she lacks.

I won't point out the incredible irony of that error. I'm sure you are intellegent enough to see it yourself...XD

I'm sorry, that was too easy. *slaps wrist*

On a serious note though, I still think you are wrong. We like to think ourselves above celebrities and say that they are stupid etc. when really we are simply jealous. Money is a wonderful thing which gives you choices and a certain degree of happiness. Granted it's not the only factor in being happy. The other main one I can think of is love, one which I see you omitted from your list.

Your response is something I would consider typical of an introvert gamer type who tries to convince himself that he is above his more 'social' peers by attempting to weigh importance on stuff which is actually very moot. I mean "philosophical views"...wtf?!

Sorry if this analysis is totally wrong but that's the impression I get from your post.

Thanks for the other point of view. I should have said that in my opionon Paris Hilton seems to be less intellegent and philosophical than me from what I have seen of her. I have no idea whether or not she is in love.

I am simply stating that even if she is happier, her quality of life is not necessarily better than mine because shse is richer and more famous. Perhaps I am just a grumpy, jealous, little introvert gamer type, but if this is true then I want to be like that.

Sorry about any grammatical/spelling errors I may have made, but I have been awake for way too long and have just finished a long post on a thread about souls (hence the philosophy).

Useless celebrity
Exactly which celebrities ARE usefull?

Celebrities are a bit like junk food. Low quality, cheap and something you crap out into the toilet and flush away once you're done.

*looks at stonehambey's supermod status*

Er... forget that last part...
Heh..play with fire, and you'll get burnt.

Jail time can only be good for the little whiney princess.
While there is a smidgen of doubt that she will actually go to jail (she's appealling the decision), chances are she'll be there for at least the 45 days she was sentenced to.
As Petro (kinda) said, by the end of her time, the world will know the truth behind those lesbian sex tape rumors, because there'll be a whole new tape. What? You don't think one of the guards will take the security tapes to someone with access to production?

It is about time people realised that "celebrity" ain't worth the paper it's printed on.

celebrity, i think has never been a good thing, it's just more "out" there in the last 20 years.

Anyone who has a hero or someone they look up to is going to be dissapointed at one point.

In some ways it's also kinda sad, look at Paris Hilton, she thought she was a loved popstar and celebrity, after all we made her that, and all of a sudden she's the laughing stock of the western world.

I still think she's not to be pitied though, i just think that she is a girl of limited intelligence without any skills or knowledge who's only reason for being is appearing in tabloids and on mtv.

I think someone should have protected her from herself, why is someone that young that rich and why doesn't anyone (her parents perchange?) say to her: "knock it off, you're behaving like a slut and an idiot!"

The biggest issue with Paris' parents stopping her from doing anything stupid is twofold. First up, her father - the actual Hilton Heir - has never worked a day in his life for anything, and is proud of it. Secondly, her mother - wife of the Hilton Heir - has admitted to the press (some time ago) that the only reason she has what she has, is because she slept with (and got pregnant to) the right rich man; her behaviour is actually just as bad as Paris'.
Is it any wonder Paris is so screwed when those two people are her only "role models" when she was growing up?
Yes I suppose that I do feel sorry for her, but not too much; she can afford to hire people to feel sorry for her all year long if she wants.

I can’t help thinking it might actually be good for her to have a bit of opposition that won’t budge for her money or sex appeal for once. Although I sound terribly like Calvin’s dad when I say that suffering builds character (and I always hotly denied this claim by my own parents as a child), I have come to believe it is actually true.

If people never have to think about the consequences of their actions, reconsider choices and decisions in the harsh light of hindsight, look themselves in the eyes, how can they ever develop a proper personality with any kind of depth? In challenging and overcoming our problems we gain important experience that forms us as human beings – people who never encounter any problems also lack that life experience, and you’ll end up with the spoiled-brat kind of celebrity that amuses with their outrageously unintelligent and insensitive behaviour.

Perhaps time in jail will help Paris Hilton to grow up a bit, and I think it would be good for her if she did, on a purely personal level.

Funny thing is, if anyone asked me to trade places with Paris Hilton, all things included – the fame, the money, the family, the paparazzi – I would turn down the offer. Yes, money are nice and can provide opportunities, but it’s not everything; having seen the price of money, I personally think it’s too high.

(quoted to stop multiple of 10 post phenomenon)

I'm gonna go Aesop on this and say - people often mistake notoriety for fame.

I think this will actually prove to further her career somehow. She's going to prison because she did something wrong, but I reckon she'll come out with even more money than previously and poor Hezu will be even more jealous.

As with so many things, however, it takes two to tango. Removing this person won't do anything, because it's the plebs which elevate her to such status in the first place. Is there any point in removing a poison in a society which is hellbent on it's own destruction?

... wow was that last point too serious?? ^__^;;

Haha, ForgedInTheFurnaceOfParis'sKnickers has a good point.

But, I don't really know what to seriously think about the whole thing. On the one hand, I hate the Red Carpet elite, and all that they stand for. I'm jealous for their wealth, power and worshipers, none of which they deserve. Paris Hilton in particular really "gets my goat", because she hasn't done a damn thing to earn her fame and wealth - all she did was be born into a filthy-rich family, and the dresses, celebrity friends, albums, movies, etc. were just bought/offered to her because of her social status. Living proof that being a celebrity has nothing to do with talent.

On the other hand, the poor girl is being thrown into the stripey hole, and for what - driving while suspended, or on probation or something. If you ask me, that is a really tough sentence. Heck, I know people who have done much worse and escaped a jail sentence, just by pleading that they're responsible students/workers, they have commitments, they don't want their promising futures compromised by a jail term, etc, etc.

So what I mean to say is, I think it's too popular these days for the Law to be extra-strict with rich little celebs, who "need to be taught a lesson" supposedly. Personally, while I do hate the Red Carpet Elite (the same way I hate these rich little freeloaders who just drink their way through my university), I don't think any of them truly deserve to be put in jail. I mean, jail sucks.

At least for guys it does. I've never really figured out what it's like in girl-jail, but I've been told that female inmates work just as hard to make each other's lives living hell. (who am I kidding - I bet Paris'll get her own cell, w/ cable TV and a hairdryer...)

But here my angle on it, she is so rich, she could have someone drive her around, 24/7. So whats her excuse? Its not like some guy needed to make it to work, and was running really late, so he took his car instead of the bus.

Thats why I think judges come down hard on these people. They really have no legitimate excuses.

In a market economy people have a right to sell..

I don't care about celebrities really.. The industry has its own pruning mechanism, it's called 'when people get bored of you.' I don't feel entitled to a moral opinion on what they do, it's obviously useful to someone, because someone is paying them to do it..

The petition paints Ms Hilton as a role model who "provides hope for young people all over the US and the world. She provides beauty and excitement to (most of) our otherwise mundane lives,"

Sorry but i had to laugh :D

Too true! I dream of the day I can embarrass myself repeatedly and shamelessly in the public eye just because I'm rich as Croesus and can't stand the thought that nobody's watching! Huzzah!

Honestly, I've never understood the appeal of Paris. First time I saw her pic, I thought "ewww!" If she's beautiful and/or sexy, I'm Brad Pitt.

And I know I am happy to be living without her brand of "excitement".

My take: she willfully broke the law, knowing she was doing so. She should pay the price just like anyone else that is unlucky enough to get caught.

That she is famous/infamous makes it more likely she'd be caught, and less likely she'd be punished, IMO. Glad to see the latter is not the case, not yet at least.

I will admit to some glee at hearing the news. I will also admit Stonehambey pretty accurately portrays WHY I felt such glee at hearing the news.

Rowan Atkinson??!

Hmm.. I guess you're a little too young to remember Blackadder then.

And.. as to whether I'm Nixon or not.. I shan't comment :shifty:

I agree that the petition for Paris not going to jail is ridiculous. It reads like "She's so pretty and famous, she can't possibly go to jail!". She broke the law several times for no real reason apart from that she wanted to at the time.

Though I believe that she is going to be placed in the special needs wing of the prison because of her 'celebrity' status. Quite what that entails I'm not sure.

#45 ·
The thing that I think is really funny is that her big defence is that "my publicist told me that I could drive on a suspended liscence."

As far as I knew, ignorance of a law doesn't mean squat. Just because you might not know that murder is against the law (or heaven forbid "my publicist told me you were allowed to kill people as long as it is for work related purposes") doesn't mean you don't have to pay for the crime.

But unfortunately I have to mention to all of you who are envisioning a certain amount of "prison does paris" to take place, she will be serving time in isolation, away from other prison inmates for her own protection. Apparently whilst we might find celebrity useless, celebrities don't!
