What do you give your inducted imperial guard

Hi every one i Just want to know what you give your inducted Imperial guard?

I have recently used Armor Fist , and been very very happy.
I also used a Platoon in "Cities of Death" using the "FOrtifications" strategem, which gave them a 3+ cover save. As such, they were an extremely cost-efficient bullet catcher.

I was very very satisfied with my Armor Fist configuration

Chimera + MultLas Hull HB + Pintle Heavy Stubber
Squad with Heavy Bolter

- 12 shots whizzing 36" down range.
- Hull Flashlights can be fired and the Squad HB may be fired from the Hatch
(albeit as open-topped)
- Cannoness may join & ride.
- 10 ablative wounds.
- Front AV 12.
- Able to score hits for the entire game.
- Six-point flamer option for defensive purposes.
(no BS required for a flamer, of course)
- Improved Comms are avaialable.
- HK missile is 5 points cheaper than the IST Chimera.

They pumped a LOT of Str 4/5/6 shots at Marines.
It made an excellent contribution.

I like using Armored Fists.
recently, in a local tourney, I used 2 off them. to unlock a Leman Russ. I ran a 7 tank list.

I won, and laughed as the marine players (blood angels, and black templar) called me a cheese army. because I lured them in and mowed them down.


but to my usual armored fist loadout...

I do the Chimera with multilaser and hull heavy bolter. id I've got extra points, the pintle heavy stubber goes on. It's a good loadout.

I like using autocannon in the Armored fists. and usually plasma gun. if I shave points, the plasma goes.

I figure the autocannon as being something the guard should get 1 hit each time, with good str. It's a threat to weak armor, and takes out lighter armored troops with ease. Plasma, well, I'm not fond of guns that kill your own troops, but they also kill MEQ nicely. I usually put tin a vet sarge for the LD, and try to keep the cannoness with a Book of st. Lucius, or a Sister squad nearby with a book to bolster LD.

I take the squad out of the chimera, and put them into hard cover. I usually put the chimera hull down too. combined, they make a nice firesupport base. The autocannon is also nice for tagging Eldar skimmers. with eldar, it's about VOLUME of high Str. shots not about having really strong shots. quantity vs. quality.


If I use a platoon, you'll probably see more autocannon. and grenade launchers. maybe 2 las and 1 autocannon.



I prefer using Armored Fists though. more firepower and more armor models on the board. 7-8 tanks can make for some difficult target priority choices. 1LR 2exorcists, 2chimera, 2rhino, and add another Immo or sentinels if you want. I personally go for tank-hunting Seraphim.

I'm beginnig to see that two "Fists" and the Russ goes a long way toward creating the imperative for the enemy to move into you.

This imperative enables you to take less mobile units, and allows you to field larger and more resilient units who don't have invest in mobility.

It's probably the best way to change your game from offensive to defensive.
It also sets up situations for counter-charge, for which WH has a several nice options.

The P-Engine, Repentia, Arcos, and even [IG] Rough Riders all come to mind.
All of these units are potentially more effective as a counter-charge, because they are so brittle to enemy fire.

Very interesting to me.

thanks so far guys how do the grenade launchers do with gaurd they've work miracles on the rare occasion i use them with storm troopers i mostly will take gaurd to get a leman russ and anti tank fire does the leman russ do well and do they take the tanks out thanks again

A leman russ is no tank to sneeze at. It has good armor and its battle cannon can make havoc for your foe. Ability to to stick on a lascannon and some HBs also keeps it deathly should it lose its battle cannon. Saying all that its not the end all to all problems you face as it will be a bullet sponge. Have an excirsist in thier as well and you got 2 deathly tanks that your opp. is going to have to take seriously. Which means the rest of your army will be the ones actually getting anything done sense all firepower will be going after your tanks:w00t:
