Anyone thought of using the Stats, characters from WHFB and using the "skrimish" rules to run mordhiem.... that way Dwarves can use rune priest and other races can use other units that are not in Mordheim rules?
Personally, I suggest that you take a look at the Necromunda Rulebook (it's free on the GW site). There are a lot of cool, neat, and downright mean things that are added to it that a mini 40K game would overlook.
The warband rules could easily combine with the Mordheim rules to bring Mordheim up-to-date, but if you were looking to play a long-term Mordheim campaign, things might get a little tricky. Seems like the only reason to deal with it is if you are positively in love with the Mordheim fluff, otherwise a warband campaign with a city map would probably be easier.
mordheim really gets fun, only if you play a campaign with several friends. Playing a game here and there isn't that great. Letting your warband grow, die, lose an eye over several games and then get fat and rich and retire - is fun.
