Okay, so the Defilers and Chaos Spawn represent magical creations, golems, mutants, etc. Didn't have enough points for Bolt of Change so I gave the DP Doombolt instead.

I don't like the BoC on the 1K Sons champions. Back in 3rd it was okay, because you could load up on Thralls and fire off two shots, and you weren't really losing any firepower from the Rubrics, since all they had were Bolters.

Now, you get a single shot per turn at BS4, and you're wasting that lovely AP3 the Rubrics get. That seems like a huge waste of potential each time you throw a BoC at a tank, which has a pretty decent chance of missing anyways.

Instead, I really like the idea of adding Doombolt to the Champions. It complements the Rubrics perfectly (well, the range is a bummer, but oh well), and is rather cheap for what you get.

I do like the Prince, however. I think combining Warp Time with a shooty power is an excellent course, and will be a common (if but expensive) feature in many armies. Maybe if you were to put Doombolts on the Champions, you could give the BoC to the Prince. My only concern is that you'd only have one reliable anti-tank option.

Hello Niterabbit,

You're a little shy on your tank-busting units. I suppose the defilers can sub for these, but other than the T.S. marines (which have a short range for tank busters), you don't have many other options.

H.Q.: I like this pup, though, I'm not a big fan of the new doom bolt. While it's better against MEQ's, it's actually worse against the swarm. The old doom bolt killed an average of 2 genestealers a turn, but the new one treats genestealers the same way as marines, and statistically kills only 1 per turn. For 10 points, I'd rather have a melta gun, but there again, we're talking about h.q. upgrades.

Troops: Since T.S. marines no longer come with a power fist option, there's generally less inclination to put these guys in rhinos (the primary use of rhinos is to get these pups into c.c.). That being said, T.S. marines still have issues taking down swarms, which are likely to become their worst match-up. For this reason, rhinos would provide your army with a means for adapting to swarm builds, in particular, orks and nids. Additionally, rhinos are excellent moving walls. I employ them more for this purpose that anything else, as they will enable your marines a slow advance towards the enemy lines, while only taking fire from one side (i.e., the other side will be blocked by the rhino). Just a thought. Honestly, I rarely use Rubrics, though, with the new codex, I'll probably include a couple units of them.

Everything else looks good. I agree with C/-Rt3r about obliterators.

Haha, I guess I was a little too set in my ways from the old 'dex and I couldn't see the obvious. Still, the list as it is (obviously with the Spawn dropped for Oblits and the Psychic Power shuffle) would be great. On the other hand, I find myself having difficulty letting go of the spawn because they make the list interesting and fluffy. Oh well, I'll think about it. Anyway, thanks for the comments.

@Caluin: A Tzeentch Daemon Prince with Warp Time and a shooty power seemed like the most obvious choice at first glance. I can envision it gaining widespread use as the codex trickles onto the shelves. I was also considering a Sorcerer with the same loadout (Wings, Warptime, Bolt of Change) as they effectively cost the same, though I'm not sure what the benefit would be. Probably not being picked out and having added protection due to its non-Monstrous Creature status.

Yep, having the I.C. status IMHO makes for a better ranged sorcerer than c.c.. After all, a force weapon isn't the same thing as a power weapon, which is why I'd think about using a sorcerer primarily at range. If you're wanting a c.c. fiend with solid short ranged attacks, then the prince is superior.

I'm really excited about our psi potential in the new codex. There really are a number of good options. My personal favorite is still the slaaneshi sorcerer w/ flight and lash of submission. I'll be running two of these in my 1850 build. Still, the duel powers offered to Tzeentch casters is incredibly tempting as well. On a prince, Warp Talisman is a good choice, coupled with BoC (as Caluin suggested). If you have the points, BoC outclasses doom bolt in every category, save for lightly armored infantry. Have you considered giving the prince WoC? Just a thought.

Tempting, but as I already have more than enough firepower to kill MEQs, I decided to configure him for tank/Monstrous Creature/Character assassination instead. I mean, with 3 squads worth of Inferno Bolts and 2 Defilers, do I really need much more?

No, you don't. I was more or less thinking of WoC for genestealers and the likes. Doom bolt won't yield enough wounds to a 10 man gene squad, in order to facilitate a charge from your prince. However, at the 1500 mark, it's probably too expensive. If anything, Caluin's suggestion of BoC is your best bet, but it's an expensive option.
