Hello ever-helpful LO users.
I’ve been browsing through the forums over the past few days and reading various bits of advice about how best to spread the greater good. After all my reading, I looked back at some of the army lists I had drawn up, and decided to rework them a little.
When tweaking one list, I ended up with around 80 points spare, and having been a long-time fan of the Broadside I decided to throw one of these in – that and I couldn’t actually think of another unit that I can keep below 80 points. However, while a few discussions and tactica that I’ve read on this forum do deal with Broadsides, they tend to recommend throwing a few more points at these battlesuits.
Basically, I just wanted to get people’s feedback on what equipment would be most useful on a bare-bones Broadside. I’ve started with this setup;
Shas’ui with twin-linked railguns and smart missile system
To this, I can only add one support system, and I’m just wondering what people consider to be the best option from the following selection of upgrades.
Targeting Array – Improved accuracy seems to be a good idea when you’re relying on the broadside to eliminate enemy armour
Multi-tracker – I normally take this but I’m not sure if it would be well served in this instance. I figure the Broadside will use its railguns for the first few turns, targeting enemy armour, and if the XV-88 still happens to be alive in the later turns it can then move into cover and fire the smart missiles as targets get closer.
Drone controller and shield drone – Gives the battlesuit a better chance of survival. I know it takes the battlesuit slightly over my self-imposed limit of 80 points but I figured I could get around that by fiddling with something else in the list.
Advanced Stabilisation System – I can see how this could be useful, but I’m reluctant to take it as I don’t think I’d use the move-and-shoot ability very well and thereby end up wasting my points. Is it still a good option, or are the previous upgrades more useful?
So, that’s my conundrum. If any has any advice or alternative suggestions, it would be great to hear from you. I know a fair bit of what I’m asking is probably dependant on individual playing styles and preferences, but I still thought I would ask.
Thanks all.
