Beautifully painted space marines?

Great marine paintjobs?

Looking around the web I see a LOT of standard and uniform looking space marines (all one color, a few areas painted of metal or black). I'm thinking about a theme myself, and wanted to find inspiration with some stunning examples of what you can do with your basic marine squad (interesting color schemes, freehand detailing, dynamic poses, etc)? Links much appreciated!

Well, for starters you can check out Rabbit's "Picture of the Day" thread in the painter's forum, or the "Conversion of the Day" thread in the conversion forum. There are a lot of amazing pieces in there.

A "stunning" force is not a bad idea, but I wouldn't knock a "boring" paint scheme so much, as I would much rather see a smooth, neat, clean, realistic, well-highlighted paint job with "boring" colors than a radical paint job slapped onto a model with thick paint, no highlights, primer showing through, etc.

Further, while freehand detailing and dynamic poses are a great idea, and I'm considering some unique stuff for my 2,000-point marine force I'm entering into the "Tale of Painters" thread(yeah, I think its gonna be pure marines), I'm gonna try to keep it to a minimum. Remember you have to produce not just ONE nice paint job, but you have to RE-produce it, many many times. Elaborate paint schemes seem a lot less appealing, I think, when you look at four boxes of marines that you still haven't even assembled yet.
