You mean auto can non right?Well depends on the situation really on what you need to get.So i dont vote.If you face enemy armor ill go for the all lascannon.Against horde armies auto and HB.I have never field one without sponsons

My predator was built as an infantry killer, so Autocannon and Heavy Bolters for me. It was truly epic back in 4th, when the defensive weapon rules let it trundle around with all guns blazing. 5th has nipped that in the bud with the S4 ruling on defensive weapons, but it's still a fearsome unit if it sits still. Honestly though, my poor old Predator doesn't see the tabletop much these days - my Vindicator has mostly taken its place.

It depends. It depends on what other bits n bobs I have in my lists. If it's in my Vanilla Mech list where I have Razorbacks with anti-tank guns then my Predators are kitted out for killing Infantry (Autocannon/H-Bolters). In my Meched up Blood Angels my list lacks long ranged anti-tank so Lascannons are king.

My Predators fill a gap in my list so I don't really have a variant I use exclusively. If i HAD to choose then I'd go for the Autocannon/H-Bolter Varient as, for the cost of what you pay, it's awesome.

I voted for all LC but I do also like and use the AC/HB one as well. I use a landraider for anti-tank and razorbacks as anti-tank as well. so if I use a predator it would be anti- infantry. the LC one would replace eather Landradier or razorback. but I use the troop carring compasity of both of those as well.

I virtually always field one AC/HB pred with and additional stormbolter. at 95 pts it dishes out 10 shots at 24". It works wonders for me, popping transports, picking wounds of MC or just kicking infantry off the field. Since my opponents at my LGS play either Orks, nids and one eldar/dark eldar player, you can imagine how it helps me together with 2 vindi's.

I will tell ya, aside from the Falcon Grav Tank this is my favorite vehicle. I always run it with AC/HB, but plan on getting one set up with all las cannons just because i think it looks cool. The fact of the matter is that it demands the attention of your opponent when its on the table. I have played games where I have hidden behind cover and poped it out turn 2 and sometimes 3 to devastate infantry. I have played where I just run it right up the battle field guns blazin and had it blown up, and done the same thing and gone 4 turns sucking up fire with no ill effect (thank you dice gods lol) Anyway love the vehicle!!!!

As a BA player, I look forward to using Stormravens more, so my Predators will undeniably start taking a more limited role. However, I do have a special place in my heart for my Annihilator-pattern Predator, the Baal Secundus, whose fiery lascannon wrath has caused my friends to treat it with a surprising level of animosity. One of those odd circumstances where it just seems to make it through battle after battle, blowing apart vehicles like pinatas. Awesome.

I used to use my Preds a lot.
I like both the Autocannon/HB and Autocannon/Lascannon versions.
I have not fielded them for about a year as I have had such success from Las/plas razorbacks with sternguard, even if I could afford the points I would fill the Heavy support slots with MM Devestators in Las/plas or TLLC razors.

I say the heavy hitter, use a tank for what it is fire support. Fire and Maneuver is not a good idea with a Pred with sponsons it's a waste of points for it can't move and shoot its pay load, so if you are using it for fire and maneuver just go with a AC or LC and forget the sponsons. Unless you are Blood Angels.

to be honest i like the trusty AC/HB version, a bit cheap and cheerful if you know what i mean. Its also good against many targets and its the cheapest it has ever been (in 3rd i seem to remember it was quite a bit more expensive), though i also like the all lascannon version, looks mean and does the job and forces people to deal with it, both of these cover my old version vindicator who blows stuff up causing more problems...

In my opinion the most bang for your buck comes to the Autocannon Sponson Lascannon Predator. It may not be very manouverable but for 120pts you get quite the transport popper. Firing at vehicles you should acheive the following, all within 48 inches:

AV 10-----0.4444 Glancing Hits -----1.7778 Penetrating Hits
AV 11-----0.4444 Glancing Hits -----1.3333 Penetrating Hits
AV 12-----0.4444 Glancing Hits -----0.8889 Penetrating Hits
AV 13-----0.4444 Glancing Hits -----0.4444 Penetrating Hits
AV 14-----0.2222 Glancing Hits -----0.2222 Penetrating Hits

Slap a Hunter killer Missile on that platform as insurance and you can reliably cripple one transport vehicle, light vehicle, and with a little luck even a vehicle Squadron every turn. Not bad for 120 or 130pts at a safe range with 13 armour. Should you add the Hunter Killer Missile you can add the following you your results once per game:

AV 10-----0.1111 Glancing Hits -----0.4444 Penetrating Hits
AV 11-----0.1111 Glancing Hits -----0.3333 Penetrating Hits
AV 12-----0.1111 Glancing Hits -----0.2222 Penetrating Hits
AV 13-----0.1111 Glancing Hits -----0.1111 Penetrating Hits
AV 14-----0.1111 Glancing Hits -----0 Penetrating Hits

I'd always believed the things I saw about pure Annihilator being overpriced. The Tri-Las is 1.37 times the price. For this you get *zero* defence bonus (so beware Melta/Railgun/Lascannons!) and a little mobility (turret mounted TLLC is good if you're imobilised or forced to move) bonus but you mostly pay for the firepower. In the following table, the number is the expected number of results. Damage is any result, glance or pen.

Target--------Combi----Tri Las
Damage AV11-1.77------1.84
Pen AV11-----1.33------1.5
Damage AV12-1.33------1.5

As you can see, up to here the upgrade is way overpriced, just 13% or worse improvement!

Pen AV12-----0.89------1.33
Damage AV13 0.89------1.33

Here's where it starts to get good, a 50% improvement on the Combi! But it's still 37% more expensive so not that worth it yet.

Pen AV13----0.44------0.75
Damage AV14 0.44-----0.75
Pen AV 14----0.22-----0.38

At this point the Autocannon is useless and so we get a flat 66% increase in firepower.

That's it really, the Tri-Las is *significantly* better for taking down AV13 and 14, and notably better at penetrating AV12. The Combi can reliably glance AV13 so if all you need to do is keep a Russ/Vindicator/Predator from shooting all game it should do the job, but if you actually want to wreck it I would reach for the Tri-Las.

Some of these tougher targets are probably better left to Drop Pod/Bike Melta, or to clever side shots from Typhoons and the like. But if your playstyle is more towards "hit them in the front with brute force" you should take a Tri-Las or two for the superior penetrating power that will take enemy vehicles down for good.

If I'm playing Wolves I'd probably skip the predator and pick up either Long Fangs or Vinicators depending on what I need. Fangs do a good job at culling blobs or popping transports and enough razorbacks + a pod full of anti-tank terminators are usually enough anti-tank for me. When playing normal Marines, however, I'd go with a pure dakka or pure las predator or two depending on what sort of firepower my army needs most if I feel I'm lacking in some long-range punching power.
