Which Fleet To Persue?

I currently have 8 Chaos cruisers, and no eldar ships of any sort. I like the Eldar much more than Chaos, but I just can't ignore the Chaos. Which fleet ought I do first, continue with the Chaos, or start collecting Eldar/Craftworld Eldar (using the Hero to combine the fleets)?

If you like eldar much more, it is simple. Collect them. No matter what you already have you should always collect a fleet/army that you actually like and want to play, just leave the chaos aside for a while. You cn still use them in small engagements to practice with your eldar and it is easy to build them upa bit more if you decide you want them after getting enough eldar later on.

To be fair, you're 2-3 blisters of Chaos Escorts away from effectively finishing your Chaos fleet, at least for it's current size. But like strewart said, just shelve them and play whatever holds your fancy for the time being. Don't sell/trash any of the Chaos stuff, because you might return to them at some point, and at the very least, you've got a second fleet to use against your new Eldar (and to use to entice new players into the game!).

Here here! I agree with everybody. Theres no rules in what
you collect. Finish your chaos fleet first, it'll give you more
satisfaction. Then if you'd like you can start your eldar
fleet and your chaos dudes will keep you buisy while
your collecting.

Yeah, 8 Chaos cruisers is pretty well a decent fleet on its own. As mEGALOMANIAC said (and BTW, listen to whatever advice you ever get from him in regards to BFG), get one or two blisters of escorts and you're good to go.

What you could do is play a few games with Chaos...and that will give you a good start to the game. It will introduce you to the rules and whatnot with one of the two "basic" fleets (Imperial being the other).

But of course collect what you want. Otherwise, your interest will wane. Eldar have awesome looking ships, but their fleet plays vastly different from any other out there (except, obviously, Dark Eldar). It will take some getting used to, as their ships are very fragile, but if you learn to maneuver them well....let's just say that I don't know many BFG players who don't fear an Eldar fleet.

The good news too is that Eldar ships (especially their escorts) are rather expensive, points wise, so you won't need to field a lot of them to have a full fleet.

Edit: BTW, strewart, a belated congrats on your 1000th post. Cheers mate.

I see the decision has been made but I want to throw my hat into the ring to echo those that have suggested you hang on to Chaos, don't kill them, buy a few blisters of escorts to complete the army, but pursue Eldar. Eldar are an incredible fleet and IMO one of the best in the game. They tend to do very well in tourneys near me.

As for Eldar BB rules it depends on whether you mean Craftworld Eldar or standard Eldar. Standard Eldar can be found in Armada. I believe Craftworld are, I believe, available at http://www.specialist-games.com/battlefleetgothic/onr.asp. Ensure you go to the "Official New Rules" section and download the pdf titled "Doom of the Eldar." It is 1.51mb and it should be a pdf file.
