Fury of The Ancients - How do you interpret this?

So do I roll a D3 and add it to the strength value?

Or

Do I roll a D3 and that's how many models I can wound per spell?

Or

Do I roll a D3 and that's how many times it may be fired in 1 round?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also do you or do you not need line of sight? It states draw a line from the librarian to ANY table edge/corner and all models are hit.

Do the models that it passes through auto-hit and you just roll to wound? or do you need to resolve hits as normal too?

Its against the rules to post rules from the rulebook.

But otherwise, no its none of those. Any unit hit by the power will suffer d3 hits - you roll a d3and thats how many S5 hits the unit takes.

And no I don't think you need line of sight.

nonono,
OK it goes like this, draw a line of sight between the libby and the table edge, some things block it, in this case the thing works along the LOS up to the point of the blocked thing.

Now you have a stright line, for each unit that line goes through that unit (not model, the fact that the unit had 10 models in a line and it went through all of them is irrlevent) the Unit takes X hits (the dice roll) - these hits are hits, i.e. you dont need to roll, you have a number of hits at STR n (as per the book) the hits are allocated in line with the rule book, and they you roll to wound and they roll their armour save
Clear?

Aim from Lib to opposite edge of table. Lets say it goes through 3 enemy units. You roll the 3d, and lets say you roll for 3hits. Each enemy unit will suffer 3hits each automaticly and will have to roll for there normal saves.

don't forget about rolling to see if the pyche power works first (see the rull book).

The explanation is correct, except for one thing:
YOU DON'T NEED LINE OF SIGHT. I quote (Codex: space marines, P. 26):
"The psychic construct will move in a straight line from the librarian to any point on the table edge...-... If the construct would hit a friendly unit or a unit locked in colse combat it will dissipate just before impact and has no further effect."

It doesn't say anywhere that you require a line of sight. So you can just fire it anyewhere you want; it passes through everything except friendlies or CC. And don't forget that any units affected (whether they actually tace casualties or not doesn't matter here) MUST take a pinning test.

I'be been using this power for a while now and It Is without doubt along with veil kick-ass
The ruling above Is the correct one, If used correctly It can work wonders hitting hidden speeders, Vipers, barrage weapons etc etc.
Another extremely cheeky one and I have checked with rule bods so please don't complain Is the combination of the tank hunter skill so now you have a ST6 fury! :w00t:

Hadnt thought of that. Are we sure that it works in conjunction with FotA? If it does this power has just increased 100 fold in usefullness.

Command squad
Codicier W FotA
Attached Codicier with FotA
5 marines
tank hunters

2D3 S6 hits against hidden basilisks, speeders and other targets you dont have LOS to for ruffly 300 points.

That seems very unfair.......definately gonna need to check this one.

Not to burst your bubble but the GW site has this under Tactica Librarian, "Fury of the Ancients. This power is particularly useful at long range, as it can go all the way across the board (within line-of-sight, of course)." http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/spacemarines/gaming/tactica_librarian/powers.htm

I know it sais that on the site, but where in the actual codex or rule-book does it say that you need LoS? I didn't see it anywhere.
Don't get me wrong, I used to think so too, but extensive use of the power and reading its stuff has told me otherwise...
