Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm a member on a scenario paintball forum, 24hourgames.com, and they run around six weekend-long scenario games per year. Many of their ideas come from their players and other forum members, so I've got it in my head to introduce the idea of a Warhammer 40k scenario for paintball.
Would any of you US LOsers be interested in coming to GA some weekend next year to play a weekend long scenario event at one of the best (if not the best) fields on the east coast?
I'm looking for ideas on how to draw in people who don't necessarily like Warhammer 40k, or things like that, as well as those that do in order to make it a fun paintball scenario for everyone. Keep in mind that the rules need to be reasonably simple in order for people to enjoy themselves!
One of my ideas was the Horus Heresy... Emperor vs. Horus and the likes. Could also do a Black Crusade or something like that.
Another thing to keep in mind is that it's probably easiest if all players represent similar races - i.e., one isn't a Grot while the other is a Space Marine Terminator. That can't be accurately represented on the field, so may as well keep things simple by saying Space Marine vs. Chaos Space Marine and the likes.
I'd actually do Guard vs. Heretics. Several reasons for it: Firstly, the Guard are "Generic Military" enough for people with no WH40k experience to understand; whereas Marines... well unless you know the universe, they seem very strange the first time you hear about "Faith in the Emperor". Plus the concept of Power Armor may dissuade some folks; whereas generic flak armor is a little simpler.
Same goes for Lost and the Damned style Heretics. You get the advantage of them being relatively similar to Guard, being 'generic evil' enough that anyone can get into them; and of course, if you know the universe, you get all the cool lines.
"BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULL FOR THE SKULL THRONE!"
That's just me of course.
Regardless, it sounds like a really neat deal, good luck!
this idea does sound fun, and i agree with guard vs. heretics, though a specific campaign would be fun to do.
