Hmmm... the costumes do stray a bit from the original ones don't they...
Ah well, still, cool. I didn't see anything of anything about this movie until now, thanks.

In many of the films based on graphic novels that has been released the last 20 or so years, since Batman, I've been a great fan of the remake of uniforms. THe old cartoon-ones never quite made it in the earlier movies/TV-productions.
But as for Watchmen I'm not so certain...
The other heroes like Spiderman, X-men and Batman were supposed to look really cool and awesome, but when Night-Owl once again puts on his uniform in the basement...I'm not sure he should look anything near cool.
To me he's always been this potbellied old bloke looking a bit like something from the old Batman TV-show. That's been like his trademark.
I don't want to say it'll make or brake the movie though, it might even be better this way. But still...

I'm going to go see it with absolutely zero expectations. I know that if I go in to compare it to the comic then I'll be dissapointed unless it's one of the greatest films of all time. I had to do it with V for Vendetta, I'll have to do it with Watchmen.
2000AD's answer to all "How do VC deal with ..." questions: Forbidden Lore + 2 Power Stones.
Further answers will require more vodka.
I agree that the costumes are not fitting the idea behind the Watchmen.
The Watchmen (except Doctor Manhattan) don't have any superpowers, they're just ordinary human beings who are specially skilled in a certain field. The comic portrays them as imperfect beings (including Doctor Manhattan despite his powers) which is partially expressed by their costumes. From the costumes displayed on the website I like Rorschach's, but the others look like Marvel superheroes. Nite-Owl is a chubby geek and no athletic Batman reincarnation.

This article left me tingling with anticipation.

I don't get it. This must either a mistake by the author (copy/paste?) or were the Watchmen details shown in connection with a Batman movie trailer?Preview screenings of the new Batman movie The Dark Knight have happened for members of the online media,

A poorly-written sentence. They're talking about the Watchmen trailer before the new Batman movie - folks saw the trailer at screenings for Dark Knight. Don't get hung up on this detail, because the rest of the info is pretty cool.

And lo, I deliver this a wee bit early, after having watched it, drooling in anticipation, for quite a while. Ladies and gentlemen, for your consideration, the trailer:

Oh, well look at that. And by that I mean the link, since I'm resisting temptation so I can experience this on the big screen first.
Only 14 hours to go. I can resist that long, can't I?
