Welcome to Librarium Online!
i love naming models.
my bloodthirster is bob
great unclen one is fatty
epidemius is lard
death to the false emperor!!!
call the waggh, i dare you...
I have a bit of ongoing fluff with most of my armies.
Yriel, I use as a cosplaying Ygnera Falolchu, and I almost always run this one commissar with Bionics, Carapace armour, Melta bombs, a MC Power claw, etc, whom I call the Six Million Dollar Man.
For WHFB, my fluff is a little more intricate. I run a TGM/mounted Captain by the name of Sir Cumference every now and again, and in one of my newer lists, there is another Captain that I call The Black Knight, due to his black armour and similarity to an AoD entrant of the same name (same person, in fact).
I also have Bruiser Markus Wallcrusher the Ever-Hungry (which, as it turns out, is a similar title to Hrothgar's - I hate coincidences like that) who is vying for power of my OK tribe, and a new one is Gwytheric the Waywatcher, a Scout WE noble who has the HoDA. Configurations tend to be subject to change (for example, I'll occasionally give TBK the Van Horstmann's Speculum to reflect the fact that he's fought in the arena before).
yup, i name my models as i incorporate them into the fluff. A model or build which i use frequently, will eventually garner a name and a place in the story of the army. My Vampires have the most detailed history, and every character is a reflection of one of my builds:
Lady Christobel- beautiful Reaper mini, and also the bride to my fluff's main character. She leads his armies in his absence.
Sir Castille- my BSB, and also the tortured retainer of my main character, and Christobel's spurned lover.
In 40K I've named several of my marines, as a wrote a short novel on my DIY chapter, the Iron Dragons. Every squad, some members, several sergeants, every HQ, all 3 dreadnoughts, all have names and backgrounds.
Wooly my rather bored to death Keeper of Secret.
And Lucky Cow, my fatty Daemonette champion, so sweet pondering the wealth of my room from the shelve.
MEAT IS MURDER
Naming dark eldar sucks but maybe I will in the future.
If I ever get IG I will definately name every measly conscript.
"NOOO! Private Bob, I promised to take you back home!"
As part of the fluff for my Guard army I named each soldier on a big list of paper. I put a code on the base which corresponded to a name I had. Thay way when something happens in a game and you write some fluff about it, you can use the names of the guys involved. Sad I know, but hey
My Blood Angels had two dreadnaughts, Kenneth and Furious George. Kenneth was named after a leader of a robot rebellion in 2000AD (Call-Me-Kenneth) and George was named after a monkey.
My Ogre Pirate Captain is Capt. Tiberius Menschenfresser and his butcher is Filfy Grubb.
I've named my goblin units as tribes but I'll be ballsed if I'm naming every gobbo.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
I named all the models in my Necromunda Escher Gang, i also named the characters in my SW army. I think it adds character to an army to find a good name fitting with it's fluff.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
