Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello Librarium Online!
For the first time in awhile now, but I won't say how long, I am going to play 40K! On Monday my friend is going to walk my Sisters of Battle through several training missions. Why 'training missions' and not real fights?
I believe in fluff He is from a Space Marine chapter in good standing, so we wouldn't -really- be killing each other.
And then, there's this other thing... Every time I paint a new model or squad, it dies a horrible and ignominious death on the battle field first time out. They rarely even squeeze off a shot or get to spur their horses to a charge...just...death.
Does that happen to any of you? The brand new squad you just painted goes kerflooey the first time out? I think it's like a law of nature or something...
Yup, its the weight of all that paint dragging it down.
I generally find a new fig will go one of 2 ways. Down the pan turn one (ALWAYS the case with plasma guns/cannon) or will literally chew through the whole opposing army.
Good luck with the training missions.

I had it happen this week. I'd converted and painted an awesome Wazdakka gutsmek model and in the first battle everything went wrong for him. His entire squadron of warbikers had got shot to pieces leaving him wandering around by himself miles away from his friends. Then a five man combat terminator squad in a land raider hurtles up and completely splats him in combat. It wasn't a good battle for Wazdakka, the only thing he'd done in the game was explode a Rhino that had little bearing on the battle.
Usually that's the case with me too...
Everytime I paint or convert a model ususally they get all 1's to hit, fail saves... but I am used to that and use them as a decoy to the force behind them...
You see there is always the bright side even in the middle of a dark room!
Thanks to all the people showing faith in me
I sometimes feel that everyone will leave me and they will be on their own...
That happens to me, yet another excuse for me to not paint Lol

That used to happen to me back when I used to paint up minis for my D&D characters too - I'd finish the figure, and next session it would get eaten by a purple worm or something.
i say sacrifice an older unworthy model for the dice gods to be with you
AVE SATANAS! TK 3k army (W/D/L)(2/1/0)
I've found that my newly painted model / squad tend to be my focus. And my friend's focus also, as its the new tactic you are trying or have been waiting to use. It tends to draw alot of fire.
Now for purely superstitious reasons, I have on occasion, "touched up" and existing squad, or some small detail on a vehicle or one of my regularly used models. I also make sure to point this out, in a rather poor attempt to draw attention away from the freshly painted Terminator squad I'm unloading.
My newly painted burna boyz squad didn't take a scratch today in their first battle. They killed Belial (DA boss dude) in combat without taking a single wound in the entire battle! My opponent was not impressed...
