Question is supposed to be: Is there a connection between members' avatars and their popularity?
I think what you think of other members' avatars has a great deal to say about how much you come to like them.
Let me give you some examples:
-I've always liked Dragonslayero, because he was one of the first I spoke to here, he's Norwegian and he has a smiling skull avatar(all skulls smile but you get my point).
-Same goes for Macharius, although I like him because of his fiction and stuff, that smiling reaper really made him even more likeable.
-I've always liked Phobos, because of his fiction contests and stuff. But I liked him a little bit better before than I do now, because I liked his old avatar, that intelligent looking spacemarine.
-I've had a very positive view towards Protocon since I first saw him, because of his happy Diablo avatar.
-I liked Wickedrock even before I read any of his posts, because of his bouncy boobs avatar
-When I see a user with an unoriginal avatar(like those smiley things) I automatically think that they are noobs or kids. :o :o :o :o
-I also get a little negative wibe when I see manga avatars..
Off course there are many other members here I really like, but those haven't benefited from their avatar's good looks to earn my friendlyness.
So happy and smiling avatars is the business if you want to be popular, as long as they're not smileys.
Ave Dominus Nox!
Well, I don't think the avatar matters too much. I mean, Black_Templar847 (or whatever his name is) has the most annoying avatar EVER, but he's still quite nice to talk to. I like Infrazael Draennonsraav's old avatar much better than his current one, but it's not like I've suddenly developed a hating for him...
EDIT: (... ya ******* Darth Vader wannabe! j/k... couldn't resist.

Well if the avatar is funny, you automatically feel that, that member is probably the same. Theres bound to be a connection on some level...after all the pictures we see here are what we associate with members names
red chaos star=antioch
pot smoking darth vader=absoluthor
winged grim reaper=BorninDarkness
many many more too
i still think of a storm trooper when i see tzeencth players name about...but it aint that anymore <_<
it goes some way to explaining why no one ever listens to what i have to say aswell
Never judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes...by that time they'll be a mile away, and have no shoes
No, theres not really a connection, but that isn't to say that your not a wannabe.
I my mind there is a connection, not about how I react to a member but how i see them in my mind. I for one always associate BiD not with his current avatar but the Chaos Space marine one he was using when i joined, the same goes for Boba's skull, he would be naked without it.
Other than that avatars for me serve their purpose, knowing who is posting without having to go to the trouble of reading their names.
Avatars mirror your personality.

I disagree that there is a connection between their avatars and their popularity but agree that there is a connection between the avatar and the user. except for me. i LOVE the Salamander Space Marine chapter and they were my first army and i had the best time playing them then any other army. So that was my name wen i joined and had an aim buddy icon for a long time of a guy getting hit in the face with an arrow. but i wanted somehting unique and that went with the Salamander theme so thats where we r now.
most memorable avatars.
TP and his storm trooper "loser" avatar
BiD old Boob rubbing avatar (ooooh)
Bobahat's OF COURSE!!
deciever's ronald mcdonald in the sewer (GOD I loved this avatar and the "they all float at mcdonalds gag )
<insert witty remark here>
I don't really see a huge connection, but they do catch my eye to read a post sometimes. I also think people shouldn't choose average ones, like plain smilies and stuff

'You're not to be so blind with patriotism that you can't face reality. Wrong is wrong, no matter who does it or says it'-Malcolm X
Well, I know it gets really confusing when theyre a different gender from their avatar-this one guy on another forum has a chick one, almost gave me a heart attack when one day he started talking about his goatee
Hive Fleet Furi Kuri 32/21/4
Tomb Kings: 8/5/2

I guess on some deep obscure level there's a connection..but who wants to spend that much time thinking about peoples's avatars.
