i have a defect on my computer and need to replace the motherboard.
in the store they suggested several combinations.
i can replace the motherboard , a p5b, with a similar one.
Or they suggested an intel p4 dua e7500 with an asus p5ql.(lga775 pc format)
A p4 core 2 quad q8400 with a p5ql.(lga775 pc format)
or a intel core i5 750 with a igabyte ga-p55ud3.
those systems equire me to buy new powerspply, memory and so.
i seem to have noticed that the market of the i5 and so is in motion, so i am unsure what to do. wait till the new models are sorted out or just jump into it.
Upgrade or wait till the market calmes down with lesser new models so i get a good and stable system at the best price.
can someone advice me?
Never follow the advice of guys in a shop
Or on the internet for that matter...
But even so, if you PC still meets your criteria then I'd wait. Replace your motherboard now, then get a whole new PC when your specs don't do the job.
I would lean towards building a new pc. Recently there have been some pretty good combo mobo and processor deals on newegg, and DDR2 ram is cheaper then dirt.
But like realitycheque said, its all relative to your current and future computing needs. If you're interested in playing some newer games or have your eye on an upcoming release, then it may be cost effective to just get a new comp and maybe recycle a couple parts that aren't crucial in performance.
