Not sure if this is the right place, but i wanted to say hello.
My name is Ian Cook, sorry but i dont like hiding behind false names, not a reflection on you guys, just something i feel strongly about.
I have been gaming for 30 years now, i play Necromunda, miss playing Gothic, havent played 40K in awhile. But i play a few other games, Aeronef, Kraken and Uncharted Seas.
I am serving in the RAF and play my games at RAF Lyneham Wargames Club, every Thursday night.
I tried Warseer but found it a bit Meh! So i thought i,d come and say hello.
Well from me at least, hello and welcome. I got into 40K last year properly, after losing mom and being made redundant, tbh it kept me going at a time when all seemed truly lost. But hey, here we are. Do you fly or Ground Crew? RAF is my favourite and always has been, (I love planes).
My second military love is tanks (so why the hey did I go for a marine army instead of IG? Oh well).
Thanks for the words Jb, sorry to here about your mom, i know what that's like.
I,m a ground trade, Logistics. At least for another 16 months, than i have to get a proper job. 22yrs done. Got to agree on the tanks though, but if a marine isnt green and smelly, he's not worth having.
Have you seen this new mag, it isnt GW but i still think its cool The Ancible but maybe its because its owned by my friend.
Well, my marines are blue (Ultra) and not smelly. But I do now have a guard army, get the tanks tomorrow and I am sooooo looking forward to seeing them in action tomorrow evening. Our club master has set up a little thing whereby he will hand out fyeo envelopes, and those will be our missions..... I'm taking my Catachans, and seriously relying on the guys who sold me their Leman Russ's to turn up or my guard army is a little screwed. LOL
How much is the mag? I see they sell it in the Orcs Nest up London, cool!
Oh, and my real name's John btw. Sorry I should've introduced myself sooner. Hence jboweruk, it's not really hiding much...
Lol, i hope the tanks dont get lost on their way to the game John, i havent played 40K in a long time now, Aeronef is our latest greatest game, a surprisingly good game.
The Mag should cost around £4, but i know Kenny the owner has a site you can pick up copies from, the Postage in the UK is only a pound. I wasa at Salute with him last weekend, a great day out. There is also an Ancible Forum if you are interested, the format of the mag is that its independant, so he doesnt do much in the way of GW, their lawyers are bigger than his.
Have the good people here seen this magazine, The Ancible I had a review of last years Colours show at Newbury in issue one, I know Kenny the MD is always looking for input, i know its for sale in America, and postage for the UK is a pound.
Give it a go, without support this independant magazine will be unable to survive.
I'll certainly look when I can afford it. The battle Friday still went against me, pulled a mission that just didn't suit a mostly infantry army like Guard. Was fun though, and great to see my new army in action. They go in again tomorrow, house campaign this time. But all tanks, infantry and command will be involved this time.
Just found out that Kenny Robb the owner has just made the Ancible Mag PDF. I just ordered the latest copy from their webs store for £1.50. Still a great read and a lot cheaper.
And i certian swarve and sophisticated chap who will remain nameless has a review of the figures and comfort super case in there. ;-)))
