Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was looking around the internet and I found this article at the U.S. army web sight.
Its vey pleasent. Reminds me of reading through history books about how the U.S. rebuilt Japan and the Confederate states.
Thanks for that post. It goes to show that the liberal media here in the U.S. is more focused on making Bush look bad and getting Kerry elected than they are in reporting the truth about what is going on in Iraq! <_<
It's nice to hear that things are improving but i stick to my opinion that we should have never invaded in the first place.
"Everyone should try arrogance, it's absolutely wonderful. You can go out, do whatever you want, and go home. And the best part is, no matter what you do, or how much you ***** everything up, nothing's ever your fault because 'thou art god'."
-Bernard M. Smith, the real Michael Smith and modern day Petronius
I agree things are improving. But, everyday a handful of soilders dies, 2, 6, 7. Whatever it is, its too many. Its going to be a very long time before Iraq is even close to a democracy. The 60% unemployment rate there is awful, and people are getting payed ~$100 to attack American Troops. So, basically your looking at 60% of the population being potential "terrorists."
Sorry to be so pesimistic, but its impossible, I'm a cynic./agreebut i stick to my opinion that we should have never invaded in the first place.

We get orgasms cause thats 30 whole seconds god doesn't have to listen to us bitch.
He posted good news! He didn't say "Feel free to trash the situation." You only prove that you don't have the cajones to make the hard choices in life and send people to kill (and yes possibly die) for freedom. There are over 50 million people (from Iraq and Afghanistan) who are now free from tyranny and will decide their own fates in life politically and otherwise because of the war on terror. Yes, there are going to be casualties on both sides. But we have to make sure that when the smoke clears that freedom still exists for these people. Nobody gives a crap whether or not.. You; in all your infinite wisdom and armchair generaling and hindsighting; would have invaded Iraq or not. A choice had to be made: Allow the cesspools of hate to continue to fester; or go stand up to terrorism. While Iraq wasn't terrorist central at the time, it certainly presented it's own brand of stupidity and hatred and tyranny. Those are now being cleansed. Nobody can deny that Iraq is now the battleground of choice for terrorists and I say that's a better place to fight it than downtown New York or Anytown, U.S.A!
Day to day casualty reports (while admittedly unpleasant) are only unmanning to the weak! Rejoice in the progress being made in Iraq; and go find some juevos!
Alright, some good news is always nice. If this is the presidents doing I salute him. (Yes I am liberal an dont like him, but gotta give credit where it is due) If this is a generals doing then I salute him. It is very doubtfully one person doing, so all I have to say is keep up the good work and try not to get killed.

well, I don't know about a lot of what any of you said(I do actually, but don't think its relevent to this thread). I do see that its possible for things in Iraq to improve.
Also, paying claims? I bet these 60% of unemployed Iraqi's are getting payed a lot more than $100 if their claims are being payed.
Maybe everything will fall apart, but things like this provide just a little amount of hope. When the rest of the world is focusing on shar attacks, lack of medicare, unemployment, war, famine, disease, plague, corruption, and natural disasters isn't it nice to hear about a soccer team being made in the middle of a wartorn country on the way up?
But wait, I thought we were only there to plunder oil and violate their human rights! I thought America was there to torture and humuliate the proud Iraqi people! The military restoring utilities and handing out candy is no doubt some sort of ruse to oppress the "minutemen" and the "insurgents" (who are definitely not foreign terrorists - ahem). This is just another magnificently evil plot by the candy and soccer uniform corporations.
The vast right-wing conspiracy strikes again! Damn you Fox News - err 1st Division news

The only good news would be when the American troops leave Iraq.Originally posted by Shiver Posted Oct 18 2004@ 08:19
