Is anyone else really worried about how the New War of the Worlds film is going to turn out like?
For those outside the loop it's being directed by Spielberg and Tom Cruise is in it
First of all they moved the setting from England to America which on it's own is ok but makes me think "god what else have they changed?"
The other thing that worries me is that the changed story may be influenced by post 911 politics and be yet another thing that makes me embarised to live here.
Having said that Spielberg may yet suprise me, i like suprises unless they go BANG then i hates them!
Eh.What, there's a new War of the Worlds movie? Well that's not good, I didn't like that they made the first one.shoulda left it alone after the whole radio broadcast deal.Tom Cruise eh? In America you say?The tagline reads "As Earth is invaded by Martian war machines, one family fights for survival". Excuse me while I go vomit and die.
Let me help you with that, Edicius.
I kill two dwarves in the morning, I kill two dwarves at night. I kill two dwarves in the afternoon, and then I feel allright. I kill two dwarves in time of peace, and two in time of war. I kill two dwarves before I kill two dwarves, and then I kill two more.
Goblin kroozade of revengyness: win:19 draw:10 loss:9
AH, SPEILBERG HAS RISEN H.G WELLS FROM THE GRAVE AND IS USING HIS BRAIN TO CREATE SUB-PAR MOVIE PLOTS IN A SCHEME TO BRAINWASH THE PUBLIC!!!!! *runs around screaming untill he hits a suspiciously placed perspex wall*
Um, eh, *Vomits all over self and Speilbergs future grave*
I don't like the Idea.....
**Please note the above post was written in a humerous nature and is entirely facetious in all ways shapes and forms. Bar the part when I said i hate the idea. That and the perspex wall were both entirly true**
Is nothing sacred !
I feel the need to join in the vomiting *vomit* It was bad enough when they remade The Italian Job, and set that in America as well
Helper monkey, bring me beer and donuts
This is going to be another I-Robot isn't it? Turning a wonderful story into a charmless, soul-sucking and incredibly hollow movie. Plus it has Tom Cruise in it, and I'm scared of midgets.
Terrible idea. Why can't people just leave classics alone?
While film featuring battles between the Martians and the modern U.S. army would generate a lot of incredible scenes( just like indipendants day ) I don't think it would create a very good story ( just like indipendants day ). The imagery generated by turn of the century england fighting the aliens with ironclads is still pretty neat, and wouldn't quite ruin the origional story.
Yeah, its pretty well the same premise as Independence Day --- how good could it be. This topic (alien invasion; war with aliens) has become so overused and stale that the only way Hollywood has a hope of keeping it fresh is to make it stylistically excellent. The teaser trailer looks alright, but I mean, I heard Spielberg say in an interview that he wants this to be THE movie of the last decade. All the power to him, but he's really trying to take an Ogre sized bite when he's just a little Gretchin.
I've always thought that Spielberg was an overrated director who's sole strength was in making "family flicks". He's never truly impressed me, except with Jaws. Oh, Schidner's List and Private Ryan were okay too. But even the Indiana Jones flicks are overrated, in my opinion. Sure, they may have been great for their time, but now they're just more adventure movies, of which they come a dime a dozen these days, and similar stories can even be found in current TV series. Very un-exciting.
He's not a terrific director, but he thinks he is due to the cash cows he's made in the past and he is convinced that he can make THE movie of the decade. Spielberg, like nearly all of Hollywood, is extremely artistically deluded. What makes tons of $$$ at the box office is not necessarily what qualifies as a good story or a good movie (National Treasure raked in close to $200 million, for god's sake!.
God damn, I don't mind it being re-made but with a modern day US army? I would of liked to of seen the origional re-done, because I havn't seen the origional, but from what I've seen it was pretty terrible ( I'm one of the generation who only care about good action scenes, and yes I know I'm terribly lame so don't tell me ).
I would of thought old men in trench coats running around getting blasted apart by aliens would of made for good viewing, but nope, they had to put some U.S. Soldiers in with guided missiles and the like. Let me get this to you straight, I don't want big explosions, I want alot of gunfire where you can actually see the action, I want a belivable main character who can't take down an entire army on his own and then spout a witty a catch-phrase, I want a Gordon Freeman in the movie ( with a Thomson and a Trenchcoat ofcourse, and with a posh English accent while we're at it. . . ) ! An average man who can barely fight to save his life. . . I've taken this to far I've got alot more views but you know it don't matter. . .
