A year or so ago, is was said that the guy who did '8-Legged Freaks' had picked up the Battletech/Mechwarrior licence to do a movie. It was prompty saddled with a PSF (Potential Suck Factor) of 10, since a Battletech movie in theaters just couldn't be good. Well, at least with the resources they gave it. With a LotR-esque budget, maybe. But not like that.

However, that movie promptly died. RIP. And, for months, nothing. Then...
Here is the press release.

Much better. It's direct-to-DVD, so it won't be dumbed-down for Hollywood. *Whew*
Now, it's in the Mechwarrior: Age of Destruction universe, which is hit-or-miss. It'd be nicer to have it in the CBT universe, in the FedCom Civil War, or part of the Clan invasion or whatever. Then again, if this movie goes over well, they might do that. Plus, I'm quite partial to many of the new designs for MWAD, so they'll be in there. Plus, they can use all those in-game characters that WK made, which would be cool.

I doubt it's their thighs persay, more of a very stylized uniform, has kind of a WW1 feel to the design.

I can't wait to see this. Mainframe is headin up the project, and they put out quality stuff.

Wooo...animated films =D. Yeah thats nice...though I don't know anything about the Age of Destruction timeline, more into the clan invasion period (after that to me they went downhill lol) but it still battletech lol. And their tighs look huge cause of their uniform lol.

Normally direct to DVD would mean a movie is almost guaranteed to be bad, but in this case, with the computer generated animation...I dunno, might be good.

Though I never much cared for Battletech, although the Mechassault games for Xbox are quite fun (if stale, storywise).

GAH! The words, they burn!
Mechassault is NOT Battletech! Well, not true Battletech! It's a mildly Battletech-flavored shooter.
