Welcome to Librarium Online!
As many of the older members have probably noticed, my avatar hasn't changed since I joined the Librarium Online community. One day, when I had a little bit of free time I decided I would atleast have a color avatar, so I started working on my current avatar with photoshop. Well, I got a little carried away. Given the nature of most of my posts... well, just take a look.
I was tempted to use this avatar for the same reason why I didn't use the avatar. It would yellow water of a lot of people who hate America, make me look a little too biased, and probably cause political discussions in the witch hunters forum (wouldn't that just be ridiculous?
I thought a lot of people, like Bawdy Monkey, or Kraken would find it funny.
That is friggin' awesome. I really don't see a reason not to use it. I don't see how it's any worse then that one avatar that's floating around (the French tank violating Saddam Hussein). I don't see a problem with patriotic avatars, it's talking about politics that gets you in trouble.
Awesome possom! Pretty radical (Y) from an American.

"THAT I.G. GUY WITH THAT OVERDEVELOPED TRIGGER FINGER"
wow!! im not american but that is awesome!! i need to get in photoshop sometime hmm
If you are using it for what America stood for, and what America was (ideally atleast) then I see no problem with it. However if you do it because you support what America is and now Stands for and all the wrong crap that happened throughout our history (Pushing the natives onto reservations, lynching, hating others, abuse of wealth, etc.) then no, that would be totally wrong.
But even I, a full fledged America hater (yes I like here, sad eh?), would have absolutely no problem with it.
But then again, I don't hate other people because of what they beleive in, as long as they aren't stupid and have solid reasons for beleiving in it.
hahaha, an awkward post like that is actually the very reason why I didn't pick the avatar!
There’s a small chance that if some one has a french flag any American will give them flack for it (too easy). If some one displays an American flag though, BAM! Every one has something to say! Considering the role the U.S. plays on the world stage it's pretty hard for me to be patriotic without people declaring their hatred for America. It makes the whole thing really strange.
I can already see what future posts will be like: "Yeah, I guess the penitent engine would be a good unit to use for that...... Why do Americans like guns? That's so stupid!"
By the way, how do you go about hating America while living in Pittsburgh? To many people tell you that Pittsburgh is the gateway to Cleveland?

Eh, don't worry about it. Celebrate your country, especialy because America is the best.
I still think it sucks, but then again, it is the best on earth. Just ask the USSR.
I personaly like to be so patriotic that it angers people. Not being rude to people, but proclaming the greatness of my country while paying no heed to naysayers. That is just fun. Eventually, I get to a counter argument, but it is all part of the process of proclaming greatness.
Just because some "*(Sry, not going to anger Lib europeans)*" European won't like it is no reason to fail to display your true colors.
Where's your Baritone Saxophone?
very true. Heck, my favorite thing to do is anger foreigners! Of course, the American way to do that is by letting them take the first swing. Makes it better that way too!
reminds me of a funny story:
News anchor Dan Rather, The Reverend Jesse Jackson, NPR reporter Cokie Roberts, and an American Marine were hiking through the jungle one day when they were captured by cannibals.
They were tied up, led to the village and brought before the chief. The chief said, "I am familiar with your Western custom of granting the condemned a last wish. Before we kill and eat you, do you have any last requests?"
Dan Rather said, "Well, I'm a Texan; so I'd like one last bowlful of hot, spicy chili." The chief nodded to an underling, who left and returned with the chili. Rather ate it all and said, "Now I can die content."
Jesse Jackson said, "You know, the thing in this life I am proudest of is my work on behalf of the poor and oppressed. So before I go, I want to sing "We Shall Overcome" one last time." The chief said, "Go right ahead, we're listening." Jackson sang the song, and then said, "Now I can die in peace."
Cokie Roberts said, "I'm a reporter to the end. I want to take out my tape recorder and describe the scene here and what's about to happen. Maybe someday someone will hear it and know that I was on the job til the end." The chief directed an aide to hand over the tape recorder, and Roberts dictated some comments. She then said, "Now I can die happy."
The chief turned and said, "And now, Mr. Marine, what is your final wish?"
"Kick me in the ass," said the Marine.
"What?" said the chief. "Will you mock us in your last hour?"
"No, I'm not kidding. I want you to kick me in the ass," insisted the Marine.
So the chief shoved him into the open, and kicked him in the ass. The Marine went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9mm pistol from his waistband, and shot the chief dead. In the resulting confusion, he leapt to his knapsack, pulled out his M4 carbine, and sprayed the cannibals with gunfire. In a flash, the cannibals were dead or fleeing for their lives.
As the Marine was untying the others, they asked him, "Why didn't you just shoot them? Why did you ask them to kick you in the ass?"
"What!?" said the Marine, "And have you jerks call ME the aggressor?!"

That's pretty damn funny!! Thanks for sharing that!Originally Posted by Shiver
Although, just making comments about being proud to be an American can attract the anti-American squads that troll these threads looking for any excuse to pick a fight.
I really like that avatar. But it's as you say: you may as well put a target on your head.
I really enjoyed your final response in the (now locked) school shooting thread. I think phobos did the right thing by closing it when he did. It had run it's course and stopped being about the issues and more about which anti-gun/anti-american proponent could be more insulting while totally ignoring the facts used by the pro gun/pro-american crowd.
So display your art proudly, if there is a way to put the link into your profile then maybe thats a good place for it. People could click on it at their own peril of being offended by it, and yet it would be with you in every thread response!
