    Ipod or MP3

What is the difference between an Ipod and an MP3? What do you recommend?

An mp3 just plays mp3's an Ipod plays mp3's,stores data, has games and can transfer data from computer to computer. Like in the LOTR films for awhile Peter Jackson used an ipod to get video stuff from what he shot from place to place.

It also gets a certified ultra-cool factor. People complain about the battery only lasting a year and having to cough up dough for a new one, but look at the warranty. It's a year. So use the iPod as much as possible so that the battery runs out before the warranty is over. Then send it in and get a new one free.

Personally, I love iPods, and if I were you, I'd go with the new iPod mini.

What is the price in US$ of an MP3 player and an Ipod and how much memory do they have?

How much smaller is an Ipod mini, cost, other differences if any?

BOO IPODS! Don't support apple's monopoly. I bought a Sandisc Silver. Stores 250+ songs, runs on a AAA battery, and best of all, less than half the price of the pod. Also has FM radio, voice recorder, and holds non-mp3 files.

Yeah, there are cheaper systems that do just about the same as an ipod. I forgot what it was called but theres a brand thats supposdly better than ipod, but I can't seem to remember. I'll see if I can get ahold of him and ask.

EVERY single attempt to knock iPods from their throne in the music industry has failed. Sony claimed 30 hrs. of Battery life. What did the small font read? On MINIMUM sound setting.
Apple doesn't lie about their products like other companies do.

And Winters? Half the price, huh? you also didn't mention a twentieth the storage capacity. (250 songs as opposed to 5,000).

If you want a small player for only like 200 songs, get an iPod shuffle. It lacks a screen, but if you're not sorting through thousands of songs, you won't need it. It also weighs less than an ounce, so it will NEVER skip.

Oh, yeah, iPods don't skip like other players, too. And if dropped into a cup of boiling coffee, it has a 90% better chance of still working than a Creative Zen Touch (cheap iPod copy, even stole the white look).

Th iPod mini is the consumer reports best buy for a music player. For 200 bucks, it fits under the margins of your hand, won't skip, holds 1,000 songs, stores documents (like Peter Jackson, see above), has the revolutionary click-wheel that other brands try to steal, a nice LCD screen, games, and other stuff that I can't rattle off.

Oh, and you know the "choose your own 40k" on GW with the Honour guard squad? you can put those kinds of things on it (requires a free download, though).

Yeah, other brands claim to be better, but they just want Apple to lose some of its 70% share of the music industry.

Ipod, i've got one and it rawks. Ipod has over 2GB of memory on it, enough to
put at least four days of music on it, if you have a tape deck in your car this is
the ultimate set up cause I've had friends been blown away on my simplicity
of my car, with just a tape deck and an Ipod - to do this you'll need a tape
deck converter (cd to tape adapter to plug into your cassett box)

Ipod also lets you choose from millions of songs on Itunes, around 99cents
each (USD). A complete cd is half the price of what you would normally pay
for a cd in a store. To use Ipod effectivly on your computer you'll also need
a cd writer to create your songs when you cant play your ipod such as parties.

But if your host has an adapter cord (Stero to headphone) you'll be the
    envy of the party.

Ipod also lets you create playlists that can be as long as you want. Ipod
Also works with windows (pc) and macintosh.

The down side is, it does cost around $200 dollars. There are two of them
out there, the Ipod with 4gb of memory and the ipod mini. which is what
    I was given for christmas.

The only other notable problems, is it freezes constantly and locks up
Ipod creators were ingenious enough to put a reset switch in to reset
your ipod you hold (the top and bottom down for 5-10 seconds) And
all your music will still be there.

Other things worth mentioning are. Laptops, great way for music on the
go. Keep Itunes on it and you'll be able to connect to the airport internet
if you have wireless and buy songs and then download them on travel.

The battery lasts for about 4-6 hours on the Ipod, 3 times longer than
your batteries on your CD player. This is great for car trips! Just bring
your firewire, and your charging wires with you and all you have to do
is find an outlet when you need to recharge.

Ipod customer service is also quite excellent. Coming with a 90 day charge
free for phone calls on tech support, and 1 year warranty to which you
ship your Ipod in for repairs free of charge.

I think Ipod is a excellent choice. I've had tons of fun with it creating
party mixes and the like. Go for it!

Get a Zen Micro sod carnit. They're cheaper and sound better than iPods. iPods are perfectly good, but in my opinion, overpriced.
