Welcome to Librarium Online!
well, I was talking to my local GW store manager, and he was telling me that if there is any stuff i want to buy then do it now. It seems that sometime around July 10th there is going to be a 5 dollar price hike on GW products.
He informed me that any boxes that are 35 dollars are going to remain the same, and any 30 dollar boxes are going to be upped to 35. The army box sets are also going to see a 5 dollar increase.
Also GW paints are going to increase anywhere from 50 cents to a dollar depending on what paint it is.
So there you have it, if anyone plans on getting a new army then start it up soon or youll be paying even more for it.
(*Disclaimer- Since this information came from a store worker, it may or may not be accurate to the actual goings on of Games Workshop........lol)
Its official now, its up on the US site. I don't have a problem with the $5 hike for some of the new boxed sets. The new space marine squad box has some very nice extra's in it that seem to justify the extra money. I hate to see them up the price on the old stuff with nothing new to offer though. But as the price of oil continues to go up expect to see their products reflect it. Honestly with the dramatic increases over the last two to three quarters I am surprised that they haven't raised the prices earlier. Although $5 seems a bit arbitrary. They need to hire more creative marketing and finance people I think instead of keeping all of them down in design.
What they need to do is start finding a way to use the bio plastic substitutes, that way the price don't rise and fall on the whim of a few rich oil holders.
Three Companies of the 26th Vinancium
143rd Airborne Badgers (99.9% done)
159th Corsair Rifles (35% done))
69th Armored Wall Busters (95% done)
Total 197 men, 12 tanks, 4 Heavy Artillery Pieces
My complaint about the rising cost for Ork stuff is simple.
The Space Marines (and the other imperials) have gotten some very good upgrades. Like, really, really good. Makes me want to play Deathskulls so I can loot them all sort of good.
However, there have been no improvements to the orks lately that would warrent an increase in price. Now, if they made them BETTER (plastic grots, anyone?), then yeah, I'd put up with the increase in price.
But while we're still stuck with the same old models? Nawh. I'll pass.

I hate to say this, but the price increase is already being discussed here (Official 05' US price kick.).
This price increase comes at an opportune time for those who are in a buying lapse. It gives them time to paint and assemble the models they have, and carefully consider which direction to take when expansion time comes. I think gamers will come out of this little price hike as better consumers.
Are you suprised? Prices go up, not down. It amazes me that everytime the price gos up people make a post about it. Yes GW is increasing thier prices. Let me warn you now, it will happen again. In the future please don't make a whole new post to report a price increase, there are already like 100 on the boards somewhere.
