I was sitting at work tonight during a twelve hour shift and I had a little free time to think about what I do for a living. I realized that I wouldn't ever in a million years take back what I do for a living.
Does this mean I want to do it forever or that I don't still have a dream job? No, cause I don't want to work be 40 years old and coming in to do 16 hour shifts like some of these poor Colonels looking to make their next rank.
Anyhow I thought it would be cool if everyone were to list what job they have and whether they like it or not. Also, it would be cool if everyone would share their dream job.
I'll start off:
My Current Job: I work in Military Intelligence. Most of the time is a boring boring job, but every once in a while things "happen". Things that no normal person will ever see or hear about. Things will get crazy for a while and life suddenly becomes exciting when all the James Bond gear pops out and we start doing our jobs. So yeah, I like my current job, but only because it has an exciting side.
My Dream Job: I would love to be a moderatly recognized musician. Not incredibly over heinously famous like Elvis, but someone more moderately recognized like Stabbing Westward. Performing in front of a crowd is just slightly more of a rush than doing real Intelligence work, and I would love to have that feeling every time I'm in front of a crowd of fans.
Lets hear it, whats YOUR dream job?
Hourglass, I reiterate, you're a freak. Anyway, with that out of the way.
My current job: I work in building management for a LARGE corporate real estate company in Canada. What I do, is I sit in a control room, doing the dispatching and such for the Security Life/Safety department in Canada's largest, (gross leasable area), complex.
My Dream job: I would have to say pro athelete. In high school i was on about a dozen different sports team each year, and I love atheletics, (unfortunately, too many injuries to EVER have a shot at this one). Not neccesarily an everyday name pro athelete, (ie. the Fridge), but, someone who can make a day to day living doing what he loves.
A little pain never hurt anyone - Larry
Current Job: I work at Brazillian "General Store" of sorts on MV. I like my job most of the time. Sometimes it gets annoying when tourists start trying to speak Potugese even though they dont know any.
Dream Job : Since I dont really have one, I'd have to say I'd like to work for GW.
i feel pretty, o so pretty! I feel pretty, and happy, and High!
Have you ever thought about sitting down and re-evaluating your life?

My current job
I am a researcher at the Australian War Memorial. I mainly get people calling wanting to see their grandad's military records, and academics writing books, and Dept. of Veteran's Affairs lawyers adjudicating compensation suits against the Japanese government.
They ask me what they need. I go into an archive, sort through everything with computers, paperwork and common sense, find out if they have clearance, and if they do I give them the file. If they want a copy I digitize it for them with a scanner. Then I put it back. Hurrah.
It's boring but better than alot of jobs, and sometimes you find out wierd bits of info from the files. For example did you know that at the end of WWII the allies voted to see whether or not Japan had been provoked into WWII by US trade sanctions? If they decided they had then it would have been alot harder to execute them all as war criminals. The vote was unanimous that Pearl Harbour had been an unprovoked attack, except for the New Zealand delegation who decided US oil sanctions and racist policies had left no option for the Japanese but war.
I saw the letter from the Aussie CinC urging the Kiwi CinC to change his vote. You don't hear about that in history books! I have read other cool stuff but like Hourg1ass I can't say anything coz it's all too recent.
My Dream Job
I want to be a successful writer, of novels, shorts, comics and scripts. I have had a couple of short stories published and have written two novels but have been too lazy to try to get them published. I am also working on (a sample issue of) an epic graphic novel saga. I would really like to be able to make a decent living out of writing, but until I get off my arse and put everything into it, I know that sadly I haven't much chance.
EDIT: I'm also a part time uni student, studying philosophy and linguistics. Man, with work during the day, uni at night its a wonder I ever get to play warhammer!

First of all, I am moving this thread out of the General Announcement section, which is only for moderators and should be locked to anyone else (?), and into the General And Off Topic Discussions section, which is more appropriate for this thread. Seems those 12-hour shifts are not good for your concentration, H0urg1ass.
Secondly, here’s my own current job vs. dream job:
Current job: Studying medicine at the University of Copenhagen, working night shifts as a nurse assistant at various hospitals in the area to gain valuable real-life experience.
Dream job: Working as a doctor in the ER of one of the larger Danish hospitals. If I really dream, it would be the trauma centre at the National Hospital.
So amazingly, it seems my dream is within reach. Just a few more years of homework hell and exams, and I’ll be the one wearing the white coat. Scary thought, eh? ^_^

Current Job: Floorstaff of a Loews Cineplex Entertainment theatre... I do concessions, usher, cook in the kitchen, doorstand and also Cafe. Its an okay job for a started, but I wouldn't stick with it the rest of my life unless i want to become a manager. Though i hope that if i work there long enough, i get to become a supervisor and get a pay raise.
Dream Job: I would love to be a writer and a freelance photographer... maybe even get into some sort of field with history. Currently I'm trying to earn my AA and then get an English/History major with a minor of Creative writing and Photography. I know that with Photography skills I can go anywhere to find a job, but i need to improve and work at what I have as skills.

My Current Job Starts wednesday this week, I recently got hired to playtest games
at nintendo for contract work. We only got a tour today of the company and tommorrow
I go in for my drug test and final paperwork. I guess I could say its every 10 year olds
dream to playtest games but in reality you have to be 18 to get hired. But what my job is
is to try to break the games that come from Japan. If i find a glitch I write it in a journal
and send it to my team leaders who then send it to the designers.
What I want to do Is produce music. Although I'm currently going to school for it,
it feels like a long way off. All the buisiness classes I have to take, along with all the music
and production classes i'm taking is coming out to be quite an expensive degree. But all in
all, I myself am a musician and I know how hard it is to get contracted with a recording
studio. Hopefully I can start an independent record label for all the alternative fans and
let the bands produce music, and our studio keeping the bands real and doing what
they want to be doing.

I swear on the flying spagetti monster that I put this thread in the general discussion section. I have no clue whatsoever how it got into the general announcement section. Wieeeeerrrd. :oFirst of all, I am moving this thread out of the General Announcement section, which is only for moderators and should be locked to anyone else (?), and into the General And Off Topic Discussions section, which is more appropriate for this thread. My current job: Sales Administrator for an IT company. Doing lots and lots of quotes and ordering equipment and associated bits and pieces, like making sure that we're selling decent kit and that what we're quoting is actually going to work. Not exactly exciting but I'm a perfectionist and I've been around computers for years so it suits me pretty well. At least I don't have to deal with customers!
My dream job: Err, dunno. Never had any idea about what I wanted to do in life and I guess I still don't. Something will crop up for sure.
Current Jobs: Editor and Photographer for the local ABC affiliate in America, Warehouse Utility Worker (I lift boxes) at a O'Riellys warehouse. Work satisfaction rating out of 10: 8 I love my editing job and for some weird reason I enjoy phsyical labor. It leaves me feeling satisfyed.
Dream Job: I have two. One is to be a painter and do nothing but paint and convert models. The second is to be a engineer for a college, TV station, or any television related company. I love fixing cameras, monitors and so on. I got zapped by a 210 wall socket the other day while working on a chuches system. Ouch.
