Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok, here's the deal: I keep hearing ominous refernces to "the old days" and "dark times" from many of the senior memebers. Could someone please explain what exactly happened during that "dark age of LO"? And how we managed to move from the Dark Age to the Modern Age?
OO it was dark, we try not to talk about it!
It is just a general reference to the past when we were a small but growing board, hosted, look and ran differently. It was perhaps a little more chaotic, a little less policed and a little less reliable. Certain characters were around who have sadly recently dissapeared (notably Born in Darkness and Sister Mel). The board was perhaps more reflective of the characters that ran it than generally ameniable to everyone, but it was in its adolecensence, not the mature and welcoming environement in which we now flurish
Not so much Dark days, but there was a while there (I would say around the beginning/mid point of 04) where things got a bit messy. As in more spamming than there is now, and there seemed to be a lot of people very harsh of the mods. Thats about it as concerns the dark days I am afraid, nothing hugely exciting.
The old days are something completely different IMO. I would count the early days as beginning/mid 03. Where LO was a very small community with not a lot of active members, with maybe one or two pages of new post every day. Because of this the mods were that little bit more easy going.
This is were I feel some of the problems sprang from, the easy going mod method just does not work in a larger community like this one. As the mods, changed tac as was needed, the forum took a little while to ease into the new way of doing things.
So IMO the dark days would be like teething pains. Something a small online community had to go through to become a bigger online community. Well thats my read on it anyway..............

Ahh yes i remember the spam wars of 04 the political threads that went round in circles until somebody decided to lose it and start hurling foul lanuage at the other members. It brings a tear to my eye.
Yes those would be the puberty years of the board
Ahh... thanks guys for the info. Now I feel a real LOser.
