    Too much TSOLR

having read TurnSignals and seen their commentary on the Nascar army...

i realized that transport racing isn't a bad possibility...

    here's the idea,

players get 200 points to build a squad with transport, one of their standard troops options
with all the upgrades they want to try and fit in

no vehicles with an armor over 13 on any side

no troop weapons with a strength greater than 6

players must race their transports across the map to be the first to dump their carried troops on the far side of the map

question is, would we have to disable "vehicle destroyed" rolls to a simple immobilized and stunned instead? or do we leave it and force troops to foot-slog across the map if their transport is destroyed?

Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

considering that the transports would most likely be turbo boosting the entire time, i would think that rules governing movement would have to be laid down

well, the non turbo transports tend to sport big enough guns to shake or immobilize the turbo boosters (lookin at Orcs vs Rinos)
and if the track isn't straight, dangerous terrain could also provide catching up...

Yeah, but just think of Eldar. 200 points? Aight...

5 Storm Guardians w/2 fusion guns
Waveserpent w/TL bright lances, star engines, spirit stones

I go 24"+2D6" in a single turn. Or you can take a Dark Eldar raider squad, and just deepstrike the transport. It could work out really well, but you'd have to set limits. A few times I've seen an ork trukk racing event at Games Days coverage on the web, and that would be great. Set the limit on points and just give everyone a trukk boyz squad to play with.

Just found this on Google. Doesn't invole larger transports but I'm sure you could configure rules.

Well, AFAIK you'll find the newest version in CA 2004.

Plus with VDR you can make your armor 9 and save pts for lotsa fans!, too bad I can't use Fire Warriors

Yeah but we get kroot- which we can model up to be like the snipers from star wars.

Hm... a piranha or a tetra for VDR rules though?

well, origionally, the 'racers' i forsaw for the various races (at least the races i think about) were:

Marines: Rino (prolly blood angels or the like, for over charged engines and bezerk rage, giving a possible 24")

Orcs: Truk (tricked out it gets up to like 31" a turn)

Tau: Pathfinder Devilfish (for that opening scouts move, first off the line)

the Necrons and Nids are basically SOL in this... but really those three were the only ones i was thinking of...
