I feel like a part of me has gone forever too. I grew up with The Two Ronnies. RIP indeed....
I was truly shocked when I heard this. R.I.P

Life is too serious to be taken seriously
i too, am saddened by this. Though my years be young, i have seen all the Porridge and Open All Hours Series, and words cannot express how i feel that this comic genius shall never gift this world with laughter again.

Yes, some of my childhood memories consist of laughing while watching the Two Ronnies, and later I came to adore the brilliant characterisation and sheet comic timing genius of Norman Stanley Fletcher in Porridge.
My favorite gag? I recall Ronnie Barker, in newscaster mode intoning with exquisite timing and a totally appropriate tone of gravitas : "Hope is fading ... for six sailors ... trapped ... in Britt Eklands bed."
Thanks Ronnie, for all the laughs. At least the repeats of Porridge will never die.
Ryan Dancey, Vice President of Wizards of the Coast, believed that TSR failed because of "...a near total inability to listen to its customers, hear what they were saying, and make changes to make those customers happy." Are you listening, Games Workshop ?
Porridge was one of my first British Comedy experiences, rest in peace Ronnie.
I still hate Twiglets!
Tragedy. Total Tragedy.
My favourite moment had to be on Porridge, he was absent mindedly walkin around his cell whistling then sings -
"Then Somebody Caught Me"
Amazing, fantastic comedian who brought on so many other stars, I mean he gave David Jason his big break, and you can't get any bigger than that.
I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. That's my dream. That's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight... razor... and surviving.
You missed out the best line! It'sOriginally Posted by attwoodc
