Ok this movie is based on a popular game series i have been playing for ages but don't be fooled by its excellent casting of "The Rock" as the hard as sergeant it is not nearly as good as its computer game counter part It mainly follows the story of a bunch of elite soldiers sent in to stop a lab escape that quickly escalates into total chaos when the soldiers start getting killed off by inhuman monsters. It would be good but even for a true doom fan i find it hard not to notice similiarities between it and other classics like in Alien where all the crew die except saborney and she triumphs same as dooms ending where super human reaper kills every demon and the corrupted sarge!
All in all watchable but its no Lord Of The Rings 2 out of 5 stars
I actually found the movie to be very entertaining.
I've read many reviews where the viewer rants on and on about how the movie isn't consistent with the game. I shudder when I imagine what that'd be like.
I think there was just enough 'last man standing, all on his own, super marine' to do it justice, and the reference to 'Pinky' stuck out to me very humorously.
I never said it was a bad movie i actually quite enjoyed it but i was thinking of the general audience (not a die hard doom fans point of view)Originally Posted by MobiusPrime
I am dissapointed at the M15+ rating that was M at the most and i believe it lost it with a few monsters versus many people its supposed to be few people versus hoards of monsters so in essence a movie that was supposed to be an alien style (one person versus hoard) became predator style (lots of people trying to catch one/a few monster(s))

I liked it but as soon as you compare it to the games it really becomes pathetic, Pinky is a total wimp, one of the only good things in my opinion is that "The Rock" dies.
I honestly had fun with this movie. I realize that it doesnt follow the doom games in the least. I didnt really mind that much though, because it kept me entertained. The big killer for me though, was that the monsters werent demons, they were just infected humans. that just took all the doom feel out of it. If you look at it as a simple Sci-Fi film and not a Doom movie, you will find it to be more enjoyable. 3.5/5 IMO
