Well... how about it?
What is your aim, and or purpose in life?
Sorry this post is so short.
Geez if I knew that I'd be off doing it instead of waffling on for hours with all you jokers!
EDIT: OK Yoss seeing as the terrifying difficulty of your question seems to have scared everyone off I'll try to give you a proper answer. This is the third time I've tried to type this, I keep getting halfway through and then thinking "no wait, that's not it..." So here goes nothing:
My aim in life is to learn. I try to identify areas I have an aptitude for, for whatever reason, then learn as much about that area as I can so that one day I may be able to expand human knowledge for the benefit of everyone. It is why I study philosophy. It's hard and most people don't want to think about it much so someone has to do it. It's why I write fiction, I truly think ultimate truth (as far as people can see it) is best expressed within stories, myths and narratives. To me being a writer and being a philosopher are the same thing.
I also try to learn on a more personal level every day. Life presents me with challenges and responsibilities and I see it as my duty(?) to try to overcome them. I mean what else am I going to do? Not face them? I suppose I could, I mean the result would be the same in the end but I like to feel as if I'm doing something worthwhile.
Every time I overcome a challenge I have learnt something new and can add more information to the store of knowledge and experiences I see as my life, which in turn makes me better equipped to face further challenges. I suppose then my life is a big story and I have to tell it and be the main character at the same time.
My aim is to keep doing this until the day the story inevitably ends, and hope that my story is helpful to futher generations of humans in at least a small way.
Wow that actually just focussed alot of thoughts I've had forever but never really expressed.

I guess my aim in life is to survive.. Pretty tough goal, but you can only fail once.
Ultimately, I'm not sure it matters what you do with your life. In the grand scheme of the universe, you're only one grain in a vast, inexplicable sandstorm, any action you take is of little consequence. This doesn't mean we can't set ourselves goals, indeed, life would be an unhappy state without some, but there's no imperative to.
Yeah, I think Robotnik is on to something here. I see my personal goal in life being the collecting of knowledge and experience. I’ve always been dreadfully curious; part of my reason for studying medicine is a wish to find out how people work on the inside. Alas, human beings are a tad more difficult than the various kitchen appliances and clock radios I used to take apart when I was younger and not always managed to put back together again. :shifty:
In any case, my current aim is to eventually get a job that’s satisfying on a personal level, intellectually challenging, hopefully helpful to my fellow human beings, and well-paid enough to finance my many trips to various parts of the world and/or other crazy adventures I might get myself involved in some day in the not too distant future. I want to get out in the real world some day.
As for my purpose in life, I think it’s of less importance as long as I contribute in a beneficent way to the survival of our species. Personally, I’d like to go abroad one day with Red Cross or Doctors Without Borders and try to make a real difference in someone else’s life. I think I would also enjoy being a teacher; I’ve found the best teachers are often individuals with a love for learning themselves, and I’m sure I’d fit in that role. Other than that, I’ve also always wished to be a published author and/or artist; sometimes a story or a picture can pass something on to others that can’t be expressed in other ways, and I hope I’ll one day have something worthy of being expressed.
Oh, and of course I’m also aiming to one day set foot on another planet. I do love to travel, and who said not to aim high? ^_^

Okay, THE Hersh is here, Commence groaning at his overbearing and parental style.:x
Oddly enough, when my daughter was born, my aim in life changed completely. It is now to do the best job I can raising her to be the best person she can be. I no longer matter in this equation, not really. As I like to say to my friends, "I answer to three people in this world, my daughter, my self and my god", (in that order).
Either that or my aim is to serve as a warning to everybody else about what can happen when you... never mind.

Wow, thanks guys. ^_^
Lots of pearls of wisdom.
Well, I guess my aim is to doing something to make a difference for good. I just want to be able to help people and make thier lives better for it (thats why I want to be a Doctor, or a Dectective). I also want to have a family. But we'll see how that goes. Helping people is on the top of my list.
I also want to fight the Government, and lead a people's rebellion. Oh look, ASIO is at the door :ninja:
in a primary objective sort of fashion; to make a little bit of a positive difference in the world, whether it's for good or bad, that's all just a matter of opinion.
secondly, just to have fun and good times, because in the end no differences you make will change the fact that you and everyone else will some day die, and i'd like to have a little fun and get my money's worth out of this existence.
I want to make a difference, but as 'non adult' it is very hard. The way I want to make a difference is in a politcal way, you know give everybody equal rights, a fair justice system and a goverment that actully works. I don't really care how this happens as long as it does....
Either that or the opposite and work for ASIO....:shifty:

I know exactly what you mean. In part I became a teacher so that I could transmit the knowledge that I'd accumulated. Early in life the value of knowledge became apparent to me, and I quickly realized not only the necessity, but the responsibility of passing on that knowledge to future generations.Originally Posted by Grephaun
Plus, I enjoy my summer's off, allowing me time to spend with my family and tend to whatever avocations suit me at the moment.
My aims in life also include having children and building a home with a personal library and a gaming room to boot. My wife wants a room for music, a studio of sorts where she'll compose her elaborate masterpieces while I paint minis in the adjacent room.
I want to die believing that I've left some contribution to my fellow men, and for me that's teaching. If I can do that, and win a Golden Demon, some day, then life will be complete.
Me, 1st finish year 12. then go to uni and study science. Then get a high paying job. Have a family, hopefuly do something worthwhile of remembering in history.. you get the drift.
