Welcome to Librarium Online!
The thread about life after death got me thinking about another interesting topic... what do people think about the paranormal, like ghosts, UFO's, telepathy, etc.
Personally I don't believe in the supernatural (that the laws of reality can be broken) but I do believe in the posibility of paranormal effects (that what appear to be supernatural events may be natural effects that we cannot yet explain.)
What does everyone think? Are you a supernaturalist who thinks magick works? Are you a rationalist who thinks UFOs and spooks are all in the mind? Or are you sort of in between like me?
I have an awesome theory on ghosts that I will share later. As far as I am aware no-one has ever thought of it before...
I believe in ghosts. I am positive I have met at least three. I believe in UFOs, (it's kinda arrogant to think that there is nothing else out there more intelligent then we are). I don't believe in astrology or seances. I definately believe that there is something around that cannot be proven using science, (kinda like gravity, years ago), but, I think it's out there.

I don't really belive in the ghosts, werewolfs etc. But I do belive that strange things can happen which science can't explain.....yet.
UFO's. Now that's a different matter. I belive in them, but Im not like 'They take you to there home planet' or 'The goverment are trying to cover them up'. I have a book called 'The Soviet UFO Files'. Man, you should see some of the pictures in it. Half of them can not be faked.

i believe in ghosts, fairly sure i've seen at least a couple, plus the whole idea about them isn't too shady i don't believe... especially with the pictures i took in this abandoned underground bunker used by the japs in ww2, stumbled across it in deep in the forect during a training exercise on land nav... after getting lost.
my friend talks about this 'greaser' ghost that they had back in his restuarant in wyoming.
anyways, ufo's too, although whether they've come around here or not, i don't know. but they're most likely somewhere out there. just can't think that we're the only intelligent beings on the only inhabitable planet in the universe.
I believe aliens exist. We wont meet them in my life time, or my next 20 grand childrens, but they do exist. how can we be the only planet to have intelligent life elvolve. In an ever expanding universe.
However, Ghosts do not exist. As robotnik said the laws of reality cant be broken.
it isnt even feasible for ghosts to exist anyways. How can a body thats died, the electrical impulses (the phenomena that allows us to exist) long since stopped in the body, leave a 'soul' that flys around for ever and a day?
I'm going to have to be a party pooper.
Aliens? Sure. It is almost impossible for us to be the only life in the universe.
Ghosts?I'm going to have to do a "Hard Aun" on this one. Science is my foundation in this area. Altough I do love a good ghost story... and did any Aussies see "Sea of Souls"? Wasn't half bad.
I believe there is a possibilty any paranormal activity could be true, but there is so much evidence on both sides, I don't know what to believe. I just don't ever want ot meet anything paranormal in my life.
Other Supernatural creatures? Most likely mundane things extremely embellished through legend until it seems supernatural.
Aliens, yeah I reckon we'll find them or they'll find us at some point.
Ghosts? I don't think I've ever seen one myself, but my mother swears my younger brother has seen one, talked to one actually. He had an imaginary friend, nothing out of the unusual, but then one day she just got up and left. According to my younger brother her family had come to take her away. Boy was he devastated, cried for days over her and he was only what? 3 years old or something so I don't think he was faking it. Either he had somehow managed to convince himself his imaginary friend had moved elsewhere for good or he could see and talk to someone the rest of us weren't aware existed.
Anyway, ghosts are only one step further than death throws aren't they? If someone can focus all the will, hate and rage he has to overcome his wounds from a grenade to drag his mate all the way back to base camp (a story an old teacher of mine used to enjoy telling). No, wait, I think I'm tracking over to zombies now.
... only triumph could turn pooing his pants into a good thing..
i believe zombies exist too, to say otherwise is just propaganda to keep them down and without rights...
just because you die doesn't mean you lose all the rights and freedoms you had in life... it just means you need a few new ones, like freedom to no headshots, and the right to brains for sustenance.
anyways, undeath is just a medical condition... sort of like cancer, except you're dead
I believe that we are all entitled to believe what we want. However, the mind plays tricks on oneself and what you see, may not always be what is, if there is such a term as "is". What I think is that - and I may have posted this elsewhere - that you do not know anything apart from the fact that you are thinking. It could all be just an illusion - the laws of reality might be an illusion. Science could be a sham. God could be a hoax. I could be dead. I might be a cracked egg - who knows? Ghosts might exist... but the again, they might not.Originally Posted by bonjordo
