Welcome to Librarium Online!
Adding to one of the posts in the closed topic, Women and their Bull****. One post said just don't tell girls about your gaming life.
I have told my girlfriend. And she is planning on starting an army for either 40K or FB. ANd is coming to the next gaming night that I have. We have actually grown closer b/c of it, and sadly, most of my relationships have sucked, but this one is actually good. So
Wish me luck
Post stories like this one
And read WD #311 and 315 for one of the cutest married-geek stories i've heard in a while!
LOL! and in the words of a great man, LET YOUR GEEK FLAG FLY!
The thread you’re replying to is way old, more than a year and a half, in fact. So old that I had to track it down and read it through because I wasn’t even around at the time myself, fortunately so for some of the posters in that thread I dare say. :glare:
Still, even if the thread you’re responding to is old and long since closed, I don’t see how a thread such as this one could be harmful; in fact it might encourage the male members of the forum to try and attract more females to the hobby, which wouldn’t be a bad thing at all. ^_^
So, to add my own story to yours, I was actually introduced to Warhammer by my boyfriend some years ago, and look where that got me. However, now that his Necrons are getting whooped by my Grey Knights, I bet he’s really sorry he ever told me about that hobby of his. :w00t:
"Girls are nice and cuddly on the outside, and freaky on the inside." ~ Lost Nemesis.
He must be, I mean, I would be too if Angela started whoopin' me. LOL
And really, I wonder why people wouldn't bring there girlfriend into the hobby. All the workers and guys at my local games workshop, we're all really close and everyone knows everyone else's girlfriend. It's fun now that we're seeing more female hobbyists. Something we didn't once have. But it's actually the girls that are alot of the time much better than some of the guys! I'll never forget Mike gettin' whooped by Vicky, good times. (I think I'm rambling...)
 the tongue of Slaanesh
Yeah.. but I wonder why people would.
Is your relatioship going to end if you can't share in every single one your partners hobbies?
If someone shows an interest, sure, then it's only right to nurture that interest.. But it's not like you have some biblical mandate to spread the faith.
Don't get me wrong, it's great when women get into a hobby like this, and we don't get enough of them, but drying to drag someone in soley on the basis that they're your partner at the time seems slightly.. ill advised to me.
Actually, that isn't how it really happened. It happened like this:
She came over and saw one of my White Dwarfs sitting next to my models, picked it up, read an article. And IMMEDEATLY got hooked. It was pretty easy.
(PS I'm younger than some ppl might be thinking right now. LOL:yes: )
All the girlfriends I had thought is was cute that a boy did something like painting up tiny models and such.
I think that if you don't dare to tell your girlfriend about your hobbies you have a lack of convidice (sp?) in yourself.

Don´t mess with the dicegod
I have said before now and will do so again, it's the fact that so many men in this hobby have an existing preconception of what women like and dislike that keeps so many of us out of the hobby.
Very true DL. I would love to see more girls in the hobby, it must be very difficult to get into it with such a male dominated market.Originally Posted by Dark Lioness

If the afformentioned lass is so judmental, should you really be with her?
Though that may just as easily apply to a female gamer. In fact it would be more likely to happen, because of the male prconception metioned above.
My girlfreind takes an interest, in that she appreciates the time, skill and effort it takes. But I would be unlikely to get her to play. I know it just wouldn't be her thing. Thats not a preconception though, its the result of her being a very close freind for five years and my girlfreind for a few months
Oh and I thought that the Aragorn and Arwen cake in WD was the cutest thing i've seen in ages, *sighs* maybe i'll have a Baneblade cake
Why are they with someone who would dump them for their hobby you say?Originally Posted by Will J

Aragorn and Arwen are cute but I also loved Eowyn making me terribly conflicted on the matter. Wait is Sauron seeing anyone?
