This is probably to soon as some of you are still in mourning at England going out of the world Cup (to penalties again! damn curses and lots of bad words) but I thought the refs decision might warrent some disscussion.
Straight red surely not perhaps a yellow especially for his attitude problem with the portuguese player but red.......I understand he was stepping on the guys leg but I don't think it was intentional in any way (judging from the body language). Any way what do you guys think. If you don't want to talk about I understand . Oh and if you have any other griwvances you want to get off your chest about the match then feel free to express them.

To be honest if you look at the play back I don't think it was the stamp - he stamped, stamping is straight red. The ref saw the stamp and was giving a freekick, then Ranaldo [Rooney's team mate at Man United - fun for the season... ] ran straight to the ref to complain, Rooney pushed him. It was then the ref reached for the red. Seems a bit odd to me.
That being said, the game was easily fifty/fifty for the most with England having some great chances. I disliked the ref, he gave almost every decision Portugal's way and missed on a blatent penalty [ hand ball in the box ] for England. Then the odd decisions, like the freekick we won for the tackle that injured Beckham.. sorry I mean the throw in. I mean.. eh?
Overall not the best game, bad tactics on the managers behalf - 4-5-1 ? No wonder Rooney was frustrated, everytime he got the ball he had four defenders to beat and no support. I don't condone his behaviour but do understand it, I would be the same. He's young, wants to play and England placed their hopes on his shoulders - yeah he should have been a bit more mature but... it's Rooney.
Call I can say is, he's going to be booed and used as a scapegoat for our exit. I hope this sobers him up like it did for Beckham after his sending off against Argentina. Otherwise, after Rooneys departure... England were lions. There has not been any show of determination to match them in that game yet, if the game went to those who tried - we would have been winners. Alas it doesn't. All I can say is; You did us proud lads.
Yeah the ref only reacted after he saw Rooney's push on Ronaldo, which was never a straight red!
The ref was Argentine anyway so no wonder he gave all the free kicks to Portugal. Not only had his team just gone out the world cup, but you can bet your ass he didn't want to see England progress either.
Even from the kick off the Portuguese were a man up

The only difference between tattooed people and non-tattooed people is that tattooed people are awesome and can kick your ass.

I don't really get soccer penalties; it might work better if they just did it like they did hockey and assessed 20 or 50 penalties during which the other team would have an extra player

Ye it should have been a straight red, you cannot stamp on a players nuts right infront of the ref and not exspect to get sent off, true Ronaldo did not help the situation but he was mostly likely to get a red any way so you cannot really blame him (Even though i hate him with a vengence)
As for Ronney and Ronaldo being Man Unt team mates, i cannot see this being for much long as Ronaldo is likey to be sold to Real Madrid, i do hope they meet first though so Rooney can bang that gimp Ronaldo out...
