Welcome to Librarium Online!
Well, Im supposed to be getting ready for college and making my list and shopping ugh.
Anyway i got the stuff u need like cloths, bathroom stuff, mini fridge, microwave, computer (obviously), and my screen can duel as a tv.
What did u guys find that you wanted, or something useful that is commonly forgotten.
Sounds obvious, but an alarm clock always comes in handy. My first week of university I didn't have one, so I always ended up getting up late and only making it in to lectures in the nick of time.A bedside lamp is also useful - it saves you from walking over to the other side of the room in the dark (doubtlessly stepping on all your possessions) to turn a light on.
Also, take plenty of pens, pencils, paper and other writing equipment as you will need it. Something like a radio/MP3 player is nice, but you computer can double as that if you need it to. Make sure you have a safe place to store all those valuable bits of paper (enrollment forms just tend to grow legs and walk:wacko, I used a lockable metal box that you can get from most superstores.
Another thing that sounds completely obvious, but is often omitted, is food for the first night. My entire first day was spent getting to know people better; I had no time to shop for any food, so I was very pleased I remembered to pack myself a pot-noodle when I got back to my room at night
Can't think of anything else. Good luck in college mate!
I'd have to agree with the bedside lamp and the alarm clock, although you'll grow to hate it!
Don't forget your razor, very important!
There are actually loads of things worth taking, trouble is you'll only realise what they are when you need them, which is probably why i can't think of anymore!^_^
yeah i didn't even think of the lamp. Thats a good one.
and u are saying like a lockbox with come in handy for valuables and important papers, Wouldn't have thought of that either.
Thanks again guys, at least i know my roomate and a handful of girls :w00t:
Yeah I'm in college right now, well working during the summer its like my second year
so I had the privlidge to move out of the dorms into my apt. When ever you get money
dont spend it all in one place, instead get a local bank account and save it for your bills
in your savings account.
Rent and Power are your two most important things it is utterly important that once you
get money for that...Dont touch it or your screwed! I've learned the hard way....
Learn to eat cheep. Rice bowls, stirfry, pasta, any kind of dish you can make that you
can cook in large ammounts for cheep will let you have money else where like laundry
or bus fare.
Laundry rooms in college dorms are hell. You will litterally have five minutes between
wash load to switch to the dryer. guard your cloths or somebody will throw them on the
floor and start their load. Better yet. Go to a laundromat. Avoid the college washer and dryer.
Showers.....College dorm showers suck ass. spend like the first few weeks just judging
your surroundings and see when they are used most. Avoid the times that they are used
most and go around 12pm or so....I've learned this just by watching and estimating.
If you have a community pool nearby you or a sport club. get a membership and you
will get free shower access along with weights/ pool/ or treadmills....
HOPE THIS HELPS.
