If you were to give any advice to the younger generation, what would it be?
I found this on a website and it got me thinking...Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation,
try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right
answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life peoples actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
What would you offer in the way of advice?
I'll start off with a single piece I've learnt and currently doing;
It's never too late to change your life. Not matter what you think, it can be done. I am now almost twenty two and am back into college then hopefully uni. It is not too late to alter your life.
I have a few, but I'll start with one I think everyone can relate to:
It's never too late to tell them that you love them.

Here it is boys and girls.
I have had a few regrets in my life, which can be discussed if you want but i feel it is unecessary at this point.
But this is the advice, its cheesy and a little goofy but makes sence:
Have a good time all the time, Always eat the worm.
This basically means if you want to do something do it. General situation for a high school student. You are at a party and some kids are playing beer pong (Ooooo) and they ask if you want to play. Do it. you wont regret playing it nearly as much as you will regret not playing it.
and here is something to wrap your minds around. I try to live my life now with no regret.
and this is why.
If You Had One Shot Or One Opportunity To Sieze Everthing You've Ever Wanted In One Moment Would You Capture It Or Just Let It Slip...No Regrets-

Never lament the things you cannot change, do something about the things that you can.
I like that. :ninja:

Don't Eat Yellow Snow
I'd tell my kids and grand-kids:
Don't F*** it up, like I did...
It may be that your whole purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others.....
.....so do a good job of it and get completely wasted! :shifty: ^_^

Those first ones are brilliant for the business world.
I would personally just point people to the song Sunscreen and bits of the Bible (as much as it is incredibly cheesy, 1 Corinthians 13 is a great encouragement on how to think about things), particularly St Paul's letters and the psalms.
It's quite rare.
Although Franksi did mention one of the gems my father gave me.
'In the arctic; don't sweat, don't get wet and don't eat yellow snow.'
Cervantes: In order to attain the impossible, one must attempt the absurd.
Never trust what you're told. Never trust authority. But not blindly, and not without reason. Do the due diligence. Do the research. Do the critical thinking. Laziness and unfounded opinion is not acceptable! Otherwise you are a tool waiting to be exploited.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.
