Hey Guys and Gals
I was watching TV now and saw a documentry on the "Choking Game" and the deaths in SA.
It is a major though new issue here with only 3 reported deaths so far. The youngest was a eleven year old boy. So is this also a issue overseas and how common is it?
Also what do you think of the game?
I personally think it is a stupid thing to do that could cause the tragic event of young lives lost.
This must be brought to the light!
At least the species is being improved by thier actions.
Plus it's going to be very hard to stop, how can you watch people 24/7 who seem to enjoy being as stupid as possible.
Oh well, here it's rare, but usualy connected to "deviant sexual acts" must be an embarrasing way to be foud dead, naked, hung and watching dirt.
Morose, Cynical and basically true but unfortunate. Bringing such things to light is a good idea, but no matter how much we illiuminate and warn against dangerous and dumb things, people of all ages continue to carry on with them.Originally Posted by Silver Wings

Why do I not understand this. Is the point of the game to suffocate yourself and have someone revive you. Or what ???
This is ridiculous, like ill admit i have done some really stupid things but nothing like this holy cow.

That really is stupid. At least Auto-erotic asphixiation has a purpose to it. Although I have to wonder if that's how it started...some kid peeked in a window, saw some guy practising AE-A and didn't realise what it's actual purpose was.
I doubt they'll get a Darwin Award, but it's sure to get an honorable mention.

It's not really that surprising to me. Just a free source of drugs. Drugs kill a lot more people than this thing does and i just see this as another version of them. People have found ways to alter their conciousness wihout smuggling and paying huge prices.
Of course don't get me wrong I'm completely against it.

If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.
I've not heard of this sort of thing happening in the playground on this side of the pond, but then my experience in schools is rather low, me not being a kid or working in one.
It is shocking and utterly irresponsible. Why?
A less painful/dangerous/bigger high can be obtained just but eating lots of chocolate!

I’ve heard about the Choking Game, though as far as I know it’s not something commonly practised in Danish schoolyards.
I do remember something similar from my own time in school, though, where some kids were trying to get the ‘rush’ of cerebral ischaemia by reducing the flow of blood to their head. They would immobilise their leg muscles by contracting them all at once, preventing the venous pumps from returning blood to the heart – the body can’t immediately compensate for the lack of return blood from the legs, and for a few seconds there is an insufficient volume of blood pumped from the heart to the head, causing lack of oxygen to the brain tissue. Similar to the feeling you get if standing up too quickly after lying down for a while, that spinning sensation, this method would apparently cause some kind of ‘rush’, although I’ve never tried it myself – even at age ten I apparently recognised blatant stupidity when I saw it.
The good thing about this particular method of achieving ischaemia is that the body automatically adjusts within a few seconds to the altered blood flow from the legs to supply the brain sufficiently with oxygen, meaning that you can’t actually kill yourself this way – however, I have no doubt that ‘harmless’ games such as this might easily lead to more dangerous activities, such as actual choking – the body compensates too quickly to allow for more than a passing rush, and so actual choking is necessary to achieve a proper feeling of euphoria.Alas, this is only too true. Having worked at a psychiatric ward for the past year, I have seen what happens to people who disregard such warnings, and it isn’t pretty – yet whenever I tell people of my experiences, there are always some who refuse to believe that their behaviour is at all dangerous and even go so far as to claim that what they’re doing is ‘harmless’ and that I am ‘wrong’ or ‘misinformed’ – as if my own two eyes could conspire against me to unjustly demonise illegal substances! All illegal substances and dangerous activities that offer an easy rush, and indeed not a few legal ones as well, have the potential to main and kill, but many people unfortunately ignore this fact.Originally Posted by Diggums Hammer
By now, I’m afraid I’m growing rather cynical towards the whole deal; if people won’t listen it’s their own damn fault, even if I do feel sorry for them in their ignorance. However, I’m finding that a different approach to the subject can be very effective and perhaps even make certain people think twice: I now tell such people, and not without a certain sadistic pleasure I admit, that like Silver Wings states it’s all a matter of Darwinian evolution in the end, survival of the fittest – stupid people do drugs, drug users get brain damage, and then I make money off caring for them; have a guess at who’s the superior being in that regard.
Really, I should be encouraging people to do drugs!
