I'm probably not going to watch the movie, I've been telling LOers on these boards since I arrived that global warming is a problem, I don't need further convincing.
Some people however are willing to believe it is arrogant to think that humans have such an effect on a planet which has been having ice ages, massive asteroid impacts, floods, droughts, reversal of the magnetic poles, and stupendous volcanic erruptions for million of years before we evolved. Especially considering we have only had large scale industry for like the last 50 years.
These are the people that need to see the movie.
Reactions to this movie might differ. You may think nothing of it. You may decide its a good idea to sell land below 6m above sea level and buy land higher than 12m above sea level (just to be safe). Or it could just make you do a little more in your everyday life to reduce your carbon dioxide production. Most importantly it should prompt you to ask your government what its doing about the problem. At the moment the answer is a resounding NOTHING.
What's a solution? Nuclear power.
If everyone stopped driving their petrol fueled cars we'd be 70% on our way to getting sustainable CO2 emission levels.
I'd stop driving mine if there were hydrogen fueled cars available. But there aren't. Governments should see to it that it is.
And using coal power to make the hydrogen does not help. Hence the need for safe, 21st century nuclear power, and other CO2-emission free power.
The MDI MiniCAT (and soon the CitiCAT) is going to be the first available of a "new" technology, using compressed air to push the pistons to move the car.
However, because it wasn't designed by a Major motor manufacturer, it's not really been heard of. Unfortunately this also means that it probably won't make it around the world, which is a massive shame.
