Hey, decided to randomly throw this list in, trying to get a vague idea of wat to do in little 1K armies.
Pretty much its a basic list with ogres at its core followed by some cavalry and minions(luv these guys, i find them extremely useful, versatile, and throw them wherever i want without giving my plan away).
Greatweapon(do i need more high strength weapons? ironguts? or is braingobbler okay, if i get it?)
8 bulls(is 8 overkill? should i go for 6?)
Dragonhide banner(should i get it? i know its a kickass banner but having more flanking, screening gnoblars would be great)
Thoughts? At this low points level would in be wise to throw in a thundertusk? I would like to throw in a scraplauncher and extra mob of gnoblars, getting rid of some ogres, throw off a mournfang and lose the pricey dragonhide banner

okay, i assume the unit of 7 bulls has the butcher in it?
maybe take 2 mournfangs, having 60 points you could take more gnoblars, no trappers or standard, as, if they do their job, they just die anyway...
and go for 6 bulls, use the points to get something like magic items on butcher or a sabretusk or two to draw fire and hunt war machines...
just some ideas
oh, and take the banner, its pretty good.
I KNOW!! i was like gnoblars can take full command!? but they are a little more expensive(the number of times i failed a bicker test) :/ but their more versatile im loving 10 gnoblars with trappers
yeah, the butcher goes in the 7 man squad, thats why theres a "*" symbol
okay, i tried re-making the army list but it dosent seem to fit so i altered it just a little..
I think that's a good, hitty list, but I think you're overtooling the MFC's for a 1k game (that unit would be more than 25%, anyways). I'd remove the standard + dragonhide and turn the 7x ogres into IG's with the standard of disc to make up for your biggest weakness: LD. At this pt lvl, I'd actually probably steer clear of gnoblar trappers and just use them as flank deniers/redirectors instead of for their handy trap ability, as usually that only shines against most of the things you won't be seeing at this level. I'd suggest:
-L2 Butch w GW
-7x IGs w. FC + Stan of Disc
-8x Ogres w. FC
-3x MFC w. IF + HA and musician
I know there's no flank deniers, which i really do like about your list, but I can't think of much in this kind of a game that can stand up to this kind of a force. Use a table edge to guard a flank and the MFC to guard the other + go speeding off if your flank's not in danger.
And as a side note, thanks for keeping this forum alive, lol. Us poor ogres have been sticking to our valleys for too long, now....especially since the release of a decently balanced book. I'm glad they're doing away with relatively cheap godmode character things (I'm looking at you unkillable stubborn DE dreadlord!)!

A Thundertusk risks being worth it in a 2,000point IMO. So in a 1,000 point I would never suggest it.
I would say that MF are not that important for such a small battle, and that you could use the points else where.
Tappers are great, but I wouldn't ever take FC with Gnoblars. Also, with Ogres, you shouldn't really give the enemy a chance to flank with or without Gnoblars.
A unit of 8 can work well, as most armies will do quite a bit of damage with ranged before you get to them. You want to ensure that you are still combat effective by the time you reach the enemy.
I like the look of the scraplauncher, and if you want to try it then you should give it ago. However, S3 small template may not be greatly effective, but the chariot side of things too makes this model worth it. Either that or the Ironblaster.
