2 Basic(naked) Maneaters
2 maneaters heavy armor
2 maneaters greatweapons
2 maneaters cathayan longswords
2 maneaters brace of handguns
2 maneaters heavy armor and greatweapons
2 maneaters heavy armor and cathayan longswords
2 maneaters heavy armor and brace of handguns
We know everyone loves gorgers and most automatically take 2 but I like more variety in my armies so which other rare unit do you like 2 maneaters or a slavegiant
I have tried to fit in all the combinations for maneaters apart from 2 different weapons on the 2 maneaters as it would make the poll even longer than it is already.
So choose your favourite combination gamewise

I run three maneaters. One with a great Bertha has a great weapon, and John #1 has a brace of pistols, and John #2 has a Cathayan longsword. Bertha does all the managing for the team, and she occasionally pimps out the two Johns. They all wear heavy armor because it's better than nothing.
In gameplay, they're a nasty unit. Being Stubborn is fantastic, especially with a BSB nearby.
Is it very effective to use different weapon combinations with each other instead of using multiple maneaters with the same weapons?
I've actually seen Maneaters run with all braces of pistols doing a fair amount of damage since their "pistols" are actually handguns and have a good bit of range.
I used to always choose a unit of Maneaters because they are a very solid unit for many obvious reasons... but I find a slave giant can be much more useful not only because he is an amazing monster/big target killer but just the fear of him guarding a flank can help you re-direct your opponants movement.
Ditch the cannon.... save the ALE!!!!
WFB armies- Dwarfs, Tomb Kings, Wood elves
I haven't fielded one yet, but slavegiants don't seem nearly as good as regular giants. Not stubborn and throttle with chain is nowhere near as good as thump with club.
Thump with club tests against the target's initiative, which tends to be low on big models. Thump has a good chance of getting through.
Throttle tests against toughness, which tends to be high on big models, so there's less of a chance of it getting through.
This has kept me from trying one. What do some other people think?
I run maneaters in units of 3, 1 with a great weapon and 2 with brace of handguns. It seems to work out for me really well so far.
As to using the slavegiant, out of the 3 rares it has got to be the most worthless. Throttle with chains is far inferior to thump with club, and the lack of stubborn really hurts this unit.
gorgers or maneaters are the way to go
"I am the architect of fate!"
I must agree with Damandred on this issue.. The giant is really worthless considering the other choices. However if you for some reason find yourself in a 4000pt game....play him....why not :drinking:
Well since thump with club/throttle with chain only applies to large models i tend to try and send him against small fast cav or skirmishing units and he has worked ok for me in that respect
the other advantage is ITP on the maneaters and more wounds, a little armor and stubborn. Their attacks are more likely to hit and not be variable (plus they can destroy chariots and knights if you hide a great weapon in there) Slave giant is kind of a lame version of the giant, who is kind of fun and frivolaus, but not really that good in game play. I think the only reason to play a slave giant is to use the giantbreaker big name.
but you'd really be better off with 3 not 2.
