Welcome to Ogre Kingdoms
When I started, which wasnt very long ago I bought a battalion and a bruiser. The battalion has all of the miniatures you need to get started and youll always use them in any OK list you make. With only the battalion and brusier you practically have a 1000 point army.
I used to be superbock, if anyone cares.
I did the same as Superbock, got the battalion and bruiser. Definately a worthwile purchase. After that I'd probably recommend a Butcher.
I don't think you need anything but a bunch of Ironguts and some bulls and gnoblars (so the battalion box is pretty good) You can make a butcher or bruiser or tyrant or even maneater out of the bits from bulls and some greenstuff or other WH parts. Ironguts are a great unit (keep them in units of 3-4 maybe with a musician) Bulls are good with 2 hand weapons in the same format. Run as many units as you can like this. Get 1-2 large (25+) units of gnoblars (trappers to hunt warmachines and march block) Either some yhetees or a gorger for warmachine hunting, tying up units, march blocking. You need a tyrant and 2 butchers.
and there you go.
ok guys thanks will do
Yeah, the advice here is solid. Also, keep an eye on eBay. I've purchased most of my Ogre army at a deep discount by buying on auctions, and all new and unopened.
Gnoblars are worth it. Bulls and Ironguts are a must. Leadelchers are great. Then you can proxy other units to see if you like that. I use a scraplauncer just because I love the model (an absolute pain to assemble) and it tends to scare the crap out of people, which makes them ignore my other units.
