I just Bought a Battalion, a Tyrant, a Maneater and Butcher, to start an Ogre Kingdom army. I know not everyone consider OK a competitive army, this could be true, but I think they could be a really fun army.
The real reason for this post is that after reading a lot of the army book, I still dont know what to buy next. I like the gorgers, the yethees and the scrap launcher, but any sugestion on other units would be nice.
I'm not planing to buy any of the characters any soon, and I only have between 60 and 100$ to spent at the moment.
I'm not a noob, I've been playing wargames (Warhammer 40k, Warmachine, Hordes and others) for more than 10 years
Thanks all in advance.
Yhettee's are a love em or hate em unit. I personally hate them as they are WAY to fragile to be of much use.
Scraplaunchers are bloody amazing and i never leave home without one.
If you take a gorger take 2. the work great in pairs.
Maneaters are overpriced and to fragile. Use it as a Bruiser and take 2 gorgers instead.
If you purchased the batallion and a tyrant you have no need to buy more characters.
The box comes with 6 bulls. You never ever have a need to take more then 3. Take those extra three and convert them using the bits from the box (bellower heads and the different meat bits). Make excellent butchers.
Buy 2 gorgers and a scrappy and you have yourself a playable army.
Looking for help with your Ogre kingdoms. Need help against them? have burning questions about life or why Dave's Avatar is so creepy. Feel free to stop by and ask OverTyrant Loki
Thanks for the answer Loki,
I think i'll go with your sugestion, (gorgers and scraplauncher) and going to convert 2 bulls into butchers.
After that its all about testing units and armies.
I agree with Loki. On the other hand the thing I think I would add another Battalion before adding Scrappy. The value is just amazing and it gives you enough core. Only thing I would say is instead of making 8 Leadblechers from the two battalions. Use four to convert into Irongutz.
There really isn't any need to buy any more characters as most people use 2-3 butchers and those are easy enough to convert.
I totally agree about the Yhettis. I just don't like them.
2 Gorgers is a way to start.
I would then mix in the scrappy, maneaters, and maybe a bruiser after the above army was set. I see these as alternative or extras that add to the army but aren't what drive it.
I agree with most everything said above, I've not run a game with a majority of my ogre units being Ironguts, but I will have to give it a try.
Something you may want to look into is: if you've got decent enough converting skill and can grab the rules for them, convert up some Rhinox Riders. They aren't necessarily always tourney legal, but they're great to have!
You can find their rules in US WD 308
Thanks to both of you, I've been thinking about your coments, and after the scrappy and the gorgers, I'm thinking about getting a 2nd batallion, just to get enough core for future games (2K+ games).
I already read the rules for the Rhinox Riders, and I think that they are awesome, maybe in a, not so distance, future I'll get some Rhinox Bits and build me a Unit.
Right now the gorgers and the scrappy puts my list at 1500 pts, and thats like the standard game around here, anyhow i want my army to have at least 3k points but I'm going to build it slowly.
To be honest, I have no clue about how many iron guts I´m going to run, like i said i only have the battallion.
My plans, atm, are getting the scrappy, the gorgers and after that the 2nd battalion
Thats the main plan, get some ebay ironguts bits and make dozens
