I am fairly new to warhammer.. i understand the mechanics and am about 40% into reading the rules.
I decided to go with an OK army since i am a fat kid with a shaved head i felt kinship to the beasts.
So i could use any advice on making my first lists.. the games played are 2250 at my local shop and below are the models that have:
12xBulls (6 are unassembled so can be used to bolster other areas)
1xHunter w/ sabres
I would like to do as much as i can with what i have. However i am open to purchasing more models.
wow, thats alot of minis!
here is what I'd do with an army like that-
tyrant,great weopen(possibly magic),heavy armour, damon-killer scars (with ironguts 1)
butcher,2 dispel scrolls (he goes with bulls 1)
butcher, skullmantle (he goes with bulls 2)
butcher, bangstick, dispel scroll ( he goes with bulls 3)
hunter,longstrider bigname,2 sabertusks
4 ogrebulls #1,crusher,standard,light armour,iron fits
4 ogrebulls #2,crusher,standard,L/A,+hand weopen
4 ogrebulls #3,crusher, bellower,L/A,+hand weopen
9 ironguts #1,gutlord,standard(upgrade to rune maw)
24 gnoblar fighters,groinbiter
if you don't have the army book just say so and I will tell you what all the special weopens and names etc. do
Heavy Armor, Luck Gnoblar, Tenderizer, Greedyfist, wyrdstone necklace
He basically tenderizes everything and you can use your wardsave to eat magical weapons(that's what the luck gnoblar's for, 1 more shot to eat a weapon).
He helps panic units and the siegebreaker makes him str7, which is just nasty for a level2 mage type.
Put him in the middle of your army to buff everyone. You could drop the scroll and add the bloodcleaver.
I have been trying my belchers in 2 units of 3 instead of 2 units of 2 and have found much success. The cons are you can blow yourself up easier. The pros are: if you don't blow up you do more damage. You can also now get impact hits since you have 3 models.
You either can buy 2 more belchers, which I'd suggest, or just run 2 units of 2. They still work good. However, the pychological factor when you line 2 units of 3 belchers on a flank can't be ignored.
Gnoblar Trappers x 9
I also LOVE gnoblar trappers. Just proxy 9 fighters as trappers. ALWAYS make their points back and more.
I like to run 1 unit of 4 or 5 bulls with full command and a look out gnoblar and put my tyrant there. Then I give each of my butchers a unit of 3-4 ironguts
Past that, I'd highly suggest buying 2 gorgers. Or 1 gorger and 2-3 maneaters.
Either way you still got a few points to play with, so I'd just play test some stuff and see what you like.
Also Dutchie's list is illegal because he has too many heroes.
