I am new to the whole warhammer thing and I have been looking at all the outstanding armies you can acquire and I find myself leaning in the favor of the Ogre Kingdoms.
What grabs me about this army is its compact big bads at a big cost but they pack a whack which is what I am ultimately after. I looked at Orc's & Goblin's originally for this but they are a major horde army and I wanted to start small scale before I take on any big tasks like that.
Anyway at the end of this month I am going out to a Games Workshop and will be purchasing something in the way of the OK army but would I be better off getting a Lord/Hero model and then getting the battalion at a later date (money is tight ) or should I get a box of Core units first? (I already bought the paint and modeling kits and the army book).
Any advice would be sound thanks
well, welcome the the gut fiiled world of the ogres and also to LO,
now about your questions
1) if you have the money I think you should get the battalion, and if you don't I think you should save up because the battalion really is a good deal that saves you the equivelent of a box set (I don't use prices because I don't know what country you live in).
beware this is where it gets confusing!!!
2)as we know the battalion comes with 4leadbelchers,4ironguts.6bulls and 24 gnoblars, well you'll find that alot of people like to make their own butchers(magic users) and bruisers(hero choice) because it is'nt really worth giving up an equivelent of a box set for one figure so many convert ordinary bulls into butchers or bruisers,
what I'm suggesting is that you-
OGREBULL<convert into>OGRE BUTCHER
OGREBULL<convert into >OGRE BRUISER
(if you wish to give your bruiser a great weopen you can take one from the iron guts because it comes with a spare[thats if you take a standard])
(the ogrebull box set comes with two different gnoblars and same with the ironguts)
4 DIFFERENT BOX SET GNOBLARS+THE 4 DIFFERENT GNOBLARS FROM OGRE BOX SET = TRAPPERS UNIT
so with all that wierd stuff out of the way we gwt down to finding out a rough list
______4 ogre bulls
______4 ogre ironguts
______20 gnoblar fighters
______8 gnoblar trappers
______4 ogre leadbelchers
if you want I can use my army book to make you a rough army list using the things listed above(to see points cost).
thanks for the info, I might just get the battalion and cut my losses there
besides conversions sound fun, I'll have to look in to some good one's thanks
oh, sorry I forgot to mention buy glue it really helps
